I'd be amazed if that was the case. Seven years out of football management and never managed a Football League club. If you were looking in that direction, someone like Dave Artell, who has League One & Two experience as a manager, and a history with Morecambe, but I'd expect if Derek goes, we'd advertise again.

I'm sure Jim still has a lot of friends at the club.

I have ultimate respect for Jim Harvey, but I am a strong believer in "never going back". We need to move forward, not backwards. Rod said there was a lot of interest when Jimbo resigned and when Derek left the first time. So assuming the ownership fiasco is resolved, the club needs to cast their net wide, advertise the manager's position and see who we can get. (Assuming Derek isn't staying that is!). I'd say the same if there was any possibility of Jimbo coming back - no thanks. And I also think it was a mistake for Derek to come back.

I also feel the same about "never going back" in other walks of life. I've "gone back" to an ex-girlfriend and "gone back" to an ex-employer, and neither was successful - the reasons you left in the first place are usually still there, festering under the surface, despite promises, changes in circumstances, etc. Just no!

If Derek does leave , whether of his own decision or otherwise , then definitely not Jim Harvey.

As KenH has said going back somewhere very rarely works out. Jim Harvey has never managed in the EFL and has been out of the loop for quite a while.

My choice would be an approach to Pete Wild currently at Barrow although I have seen him being tipped for the Blackpool job.

Jim Harvey is the Club Life Vice President.

Has anybody given thought to the fact he might have just been there watching the game ??!!

Yeah I’m not sure how anyone has made the leap from seeing Jim Harvey at a game to assuming that he’s lined up as the next manager

In all seriousness (and I know this conversation is very premature), if Derek were to leave then surely the first name on the shortlist would be Dave Artell.

I did put something similar questioning if he was there for talks. But in no way did I write that he was lined up for the post.

It looks like Cooney is leaving which is no real surprise.

His agent has put a tweet on Twitter alerting clubs about his client !

Didn't think they could tout a player around until after the season finishes? Perhaps they can 'make it known they will be available', but interested clubs can't make an approach for another week?

It's a shame. I think Cooney is a good player, and while there are some who question his fitness, I think he still delivers on the pitch. I would have liked to see him stay.

The tweet is by A P Sports Advisory and reads as follows:

"We are pleased to be advising Ryan Cooney in the coming Summer transfer window. Ryan is a young and talented right back that plays for Morecambe FC in League 1.
The 23 year old played an integral role in Morecambe's successful 2020/2021 promotion winning campaign and proved to be one of their best players. He was also part of Morecambe's first team when they played Spurs in the FA Cup 4th Round." (They think we reached the 4th round ! }

He goes on to mention Ryan's ability to throw a long ball and his energy etc.

Well, I was impressed with Niasse. Obviously, Stockton has got his head back on, but on the basis that he's likely to be off somewhere else, I'd like to see us keep Niasse, be that in League One or Two.

I like Niasse, i like the way he always seems to win a free kick and the way he leads the line. His movement is top draw and you can tell he has played at a top level. It seems to me that he is struggling with his fitness though, watching him in the warm up is painfull.

Maybe the best thing Niasse has done is provide competition for Cole and wake him up. Cole was coasting and in danger of being bombed out when Niasse turned up so maybe it was another Derek masterstroke.

Agree 100% with BW....I'd have no problem if he was back next season. You can tell he has played at a higher level the way he conjures up free kicks and knows the dark arts of the game and how to use them to his and the teams advantage.

Remember this is a player who had not played any football since last season so fitness was always going to be an issue. Get a pre season training into him and he could be the perfect partner if Cole stays (which I hope will happen) and could prove to be a very positive double act when necessary.

All will depend on whether DA is still with us and YES I've changed my thinking and would love him to stay and to be given a budget that he can bring in his own players and keep the likes of Cole, Gibbo and of course Connor Ripley who for me is as good as Baz if not better at times.

I agree, I hope we can keep him as I doubt many other clubs will be looking at him. I don't know if it's his fitness or whether has just has a lazy "demeanour". Yes, painful to watch warming up, but also when he's on the pitch he looks like he can barely walk until he has to do a run for/with the ball. Yesterday, he actually looked injured when he was walking around, almost hobbling, on the pitch during stoppages - very slow and slouchy. I'd like to think we could keep hold of him for another season and get him fit and mobile - he has the makings of a top class striker if Derek can get a rocket up his bum!

Connor in his post match Radio Lancashire interview said that he had fallen out of love with the game until he came to us and he's now back to his old self. Fingers crossed he's with us next season.

Wonder if we can have the same affect on Niasse IF DA (assuming he wants to stay himself) will offer him the chance to rekindle his passion for the game... :?: :?: :?:

Connor has been on the ShrimpNet podcast (blatant plug) three times ( I think??) and the last twice has mentioned the fact that Morecambe FC has made him fall in love with football. Just saying. :D

It’s a shame Niasse joined us mid season really. He’s crying out for a full pre season to get him fit and sharp. If we do keep him then I’d be excited to see what he can do after a summer of work on his conditioning and with half a dozen pre season games under his belt.
