Derek's Radio Lanc's interview

Agree with the above. I think Cole will be very lucky to get a league one side like Port Vale and I think league two is a more likely destination.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cole is offered a new contract and that he is still with us next season.

The way he celebrated his goal yesterday was like the Cole of last season.

The problem he has had is the lack of service from midfield......

He certainly seemed passionate after he scored but he probably used more energy for his celebration than he’d used in the 89 minutes beforehand… I don’t think it’s harsh to say that yesterdays goal doesn’t make up for the rest of the season.

I just think it’s one of those situations where it’ll be best for player and club for us to part ways at the end of the season. Cole can start afresh and so can we.

To blame the midfield for Cole's form this season is sheer madness. He was so poor for 89minutes yesterday, i reckon i could have marked him out of the game.

not madness, losing Tooms, Wildig and Phillips was bound to affect Cole's supply, and he has two hanging on to his shirt because they know how lethal he is !

Not running, not putting the effort in and throwing sickies are the main contributing factors in the piss poor season Cole has had thus far.

Wonder what he means by we have overspent in other areas, it must be all those new lawnmowers

He then goes on to say later money has had to be paid back to Bond group so is that what the overspend is.

I think the club has grown its off the field staff considerably. Perhaps these investments haven't yet produced the desired revenue to cover costs.

It might be more what has happened to the Revenue and where it has gone.

Derek is the master of saying things without saying them.

Yes, think for whatever reason fans aren't spending enough on matchdays. Never understand why fans go to the Hurley Flyer pre and post match for a pint. We need cash to make payroll

We are light years away from Accrington's match day experience. They've designed it so the average home fan spends the day there.
All we have is a tiny JBs bar.
I went to the Hurley on the good Friday and it was brilliant. Screens everywhere, Pool, Darts and Jukebox. Home and away fans mixing.

Despite the match day experience , Accrington only had 2,000 fans for their home game on Tuesday evening.

Morecambe's last accounts showed a large profit.

The next accounts have to be filed by 20th May so not long to wait.

Yep, nearly all spent on repaying debt, the 2020/21 cash flow statement shows £647,681 repayment of borrowings. Would have been nice if some of the £1million pound operating profit had been allocated to players wage budget! In fact the entire wage budget for 2020/21 rose by less than £100k and number of playing/management staff fell from 51 to 42.

The 31/5/21 accounts showed outstanding borrowings of £2m and Rod/Graham recently said the club is now debt free, so the latest accounts for 2021/22 must somehow show repayment of that £2m of debt, which presumably is where any profits have been spent, again, rather than on players wages budget.

Looks like most, if not all, profits from covid grants, player sales, higher attendances, etc have been spent on repaying debt rather than being spent on improving the club, increasing player budget, etc.

I've said many times, there's no harm having a bit of debt, and I do feel that the club's owners and/or board plan to use all funds to repay debt as the priority isn't necessarily the best use of that money, as we're now seeing due to almost inevitable relegation due to lack of money for Derek to bring in the players he needed to compete at this level!

I suspect that Jason and Co wanted to clear the loan so that the club became a more attractive resale. Unfortunately it seems to have back fired due to his high asking price that ruled potential investors out of the frame including the local company wanting to buy our club. May still happen as it looks like the EFL will kick the current bid out.

The time it has taken for the EFL to decide about the sale doesn't look favourable.......

Just listened to DA s latest interview and whilst I may have issues re style of football l have to agree with others that he tells it as it is and is very open and honest which is of credit to him.

Sometimes one has to admit that one's opinions are wrong about an individual.....

Experienced managers have joined EFL clubs in much worse situations than ours. If Derek leaves we’ll have a decent replacement that’s for sure.

Experienced former manager out of work ( not JB )....or retired player looking for first managerial job.... :?: :?: :?:

For me it would be a current manager say at National League level wanting to take the next step up...but is there anybody out there that fits the bill... :?: :?: :?:

We would get managers applying but they would not be the calibre of the one we have at the moment or managers such as the recently available Darryl Clarke until this ownership farce is settled sooner rather than later.

The applicants would be the usual journeymen with their entourages.

Hopefully the club will announce a new contract for Derek soon so that at least the current players know who is running the show next season.

If they bring the prices down a bit people might go in there instead of Hurley!

Plus it feels like a dungeon in JB's, always standing on peoples toes. Nice outside seating area at Hurley, much more enjoyable.

Be nice if JB's could put a seating area outside the front of the bar. It would make a huge difference.

Think DA would quite rightly seek some guarantees about a budget and the amount to give our club a chance of not being in a relegation battle once again.

Of course it would be down to the owner(s) before any offer of a new contract could be on the table....but assuming that it fits DAs criteria then I could see him signing and then building a squad of HIS players.

Next season wherever we plough our trade could be interesting.

Marstons did what the club didnt and have created a decent pub for footballs fans. JB's is a very poor attempt at a supporters bar.
