We were top of the league in basically every chance creation metric when we got promoted under Derek. We scored quite a lot of goals, the fourth highest amount in the league. We conceded our fair share too - our games saw the second highest total of goals (for and against), only behind Oldham. Both Plymouth's L2 seasons under Derek they scored more than 70 goals, so kind of what you'd expect for a promotion chasing/winning side.

Get this myth about 'attacking styles' etc out of your head!

100% agree about this attacking style rubbish and it is one of the biggest myths in football. People talk like we have been spoilt with free flowing, high scoring winning football for decades and Derek has come in and ruined it all with his negative football. It is bonkers.

Agreed. I remember some games towards the end of Jim Bentley's reign when we had no shots at goal , never mind shots on target. That dreadful game against Barnet being a prime example.

The same fans that castigate Derek were cutting slack for Jim.

Let's hope this takeover by somebody whoever it is happens soon and then Derek can start to put together a decent squad for next season whichever division we are in.

Football is after all an entertainment and to be perfectly frank the entertainment that we have had this season at home has been very short on the ground.

The lack of attacking football under DA I have to accept is my own thoughts but entertainment is very much missing.

No doubt we'll continue to disagree BUT this old git ( like yourselves) will continue to support OUR club irrespective of what happens on the field. Just a pity that some will no longer provide their support IF we get relegated.

To be honest the football has been dire this season and under Robinson, as much as fans didn't like the way he left the club, was far more entertaining. Yes, we conceded a lot of goals but we also scored many. It's not coincidence that Stockton had a great season when we created lots of chances and has struggled this season playing upfront on his own and trying to close down three defenders. One game springs to mind, away at Rotherham we lost 2 - 0 (I think) but we had 17 shots. Was there any game away this season that we got anywhere near that.
I just hope we can play more attacking next season despite what league we are in and whoever is in charge. At the end of the day fans pay to be entertained and that ain't happening, but i will of course be renewing my season ticket for the 22nd year.

I may be in a minority here but I think the home games have been quite entertaining , we just haven't got the results some of the performances deserved. Take the Portsmouth home game , we could easily have scored 3 or 4 goals , Watts headed wide when it was easier to score. Fleetwood at home where we dominated most of the match , could easily have had the points tied up before a late equaliser.

It's the away form that is going to sink us I am afraid. We have been woeful on our travels for whatever reasons.

Robinson was a Kamikaze manager and if he hadn't jumped ship we would have been playing Sutton , Barrow , Stevenage this season.

Cole has suffered big time due to a lack of service from our inexperienced midfield. Too many loanees learning their trade and DA not being in a position to bring in much needed experience when needed.

I still maintain that the loss of Wildig and Tooms has had a major contributing factor for the demise of Cole although the clubs refusal ( which I agreed with) to accept a paltry bid for Cole has appeared to affect our talisman.

It's fair to say that this season's football under Derek hasn't been great. The issue isn't that it's been inherently negative though, more that overall we just haven't been very good and lacked balance. Don't think the mitigating factors for this RE the ownership issues need dredging up again. Agree with GS that there have been a fair number of home games where we've found the blend and it's been great fun. Even in defeat sometimes, eg against Ipswich.

Our time under Robbo is fascinating if I'm honest. I think you have to split it into two parts: pre-Jan and post-Jan.

Pre-Jan, despite lots of goals for and against, this was more to do with Stockton being in beyond ridiculous form and having goalkeepers who were basically saving nothing. The numbers backed this up as well. Overall, I'm not sure the football was as kamikaze as people like to make out - more that we just conceded basically every time anybody got into our final third as we had poor defensive partners for AOC and two underperforming goalkeepers. There's a really good Twitter thread somebody did that helps explain this.

Post-Jan, we brought in Bedeau (a more than competent CB partner for AOC) and Carson (a top quality goalkeeper). Our underlying numbers shot right up, both in attack and defence, and despite having a few unfortunate draws I thought our performance levels were of an extremely high standard.

I think both Derek and Robbo are fantastic managers, but like any manager they have their own individual style and work best with a squad moulded to that. Robbo had a few misses in a difficult summer but sorted things in January. Derek had what I'd say was an even tougher summer, and we weren't in as financially flexible a position to help sort things in January.

Hopefully his interest will vanish IF we are relegated.

And what hopefully happens then has been well documented by myself. :?: :?: :?:

Redrobo, I am with you on what you hope will happen, but if we are relegated I think he'll be more interested than ever. He admitted he wanted to be the youngest owner of a football club. Should the unthinkable happen, as others have already suggested, the price will drop and be more available to him. Our only ray of hope may be that more interested parties will come forward.

It's gone very quiet over the past few weeks. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Maybe the EFL are still deciding if Johal is suitable OR are they still waiting for more information... :?:

I suspect that he is waiting to see which league we are in next season before making a commitment BUT I'm sure fans like myself would welcome even a brief update from our BoD.....please....or are they in the dark as well....

I'm sure our BoD are just as concerned about the apparent inaction by the EFL.

It certainly doesn't help our planning for next season irrespective of what league we are in.

Just a Companies House administrative matter as the company hasn't filed it's annual return. Means nothing really, other than whoever is looking after their statutory requirements isn't on top of the job!

Good news that everyone can concentrate on the two games coming up without worrying about paying their mortgages. But I have to wonder, is Sarbjot aiming to buy the club on a monthly basis?

Seriously, if he's genuinely got the cash then I hope the EFL can approve the take-over ASAP and we can start to plan for next season. If he hasn't, then he's certainly building up quite a debt, which I imagine he'll want to be repaid if the sale doesn't go through?

Well we are certainly in bed with Johal. I doubt this will have any sway though with the EFL. At least we can concentrate on the football in the short term

Was it Birmingham that got a penalty from the EFL because someone gave them money who hadn't been approved by the EFL.
