Firstly, thanks to Keith for allowing me to post this.
Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity which carries out research and provides valuable support to sufferers of this disease.
Statistics show that 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, over 50s are at most risk.
This charity is important to me as I have had 2 colleagues pass away from this disease, another 1 is fighting it but his prognosis is not good, a 4th had surgery to remove his prostate, currently given the all clear, and yet another one has had Brachytherapy at Christies for early onset prostate cancer.
In an aim to regain some of my fitness of days gone by I have signed up to run the Great North run in September and decided to use the opportunity to raise some funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
I am using my own place in the run rather than a charity place and am appealing for sponsorship to ensure I can donate as much as possible to Prostate Cancer UK.
I am asking my contacts on Shrimps Voices and other social media I use, if they are able, to sponsor me just £2, or more if you feel comfortable doing so. I shall have a sponsor sheet with me at the Lincoln game on Saturday at the program selling booth at the front of the stadium.
I intend setting up a Just Giving page, when I have managed to do that I’ll add the link to this post.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
