Lincoln manager post match has a pop at Cole

Lincoln manager post match has a pop at Cole

Postby redrobo » Sun Apr 30, 2023 10:58 am

Lincoln's manager appears to accuse Cole of being a cheat and getting awarded free kicks that should not have been awarded.

Obviously ignores all the shirt pulling and holding Cole back with illegal use of arms etc.

Cole got zero protection from an incompetent referee but what's new...

Watching that ......... how lucky we are to have DA as manager. Sorry, but that guy is seriously lacking in common sense (and lots of other decent things too). Quite a shock to see that!!!!!

Nah, not for me, Kennedy comes across as a decent bloke, admittedly he says Cole got a couple of “cheap”free kicks, one when he went down (at last) I thought was cheap. Otherwise I thought he was honest. He then goes on to say he knew other players at the top level who were brilliant at getting free kicks and he admired them. They played well but as soon as we got a goal back they got sucked in to the atmosphere and panicked, and he admits that, the didn’t play the occasion very well at all last half hour.
So not really a pop for me.

I thought it was a decent interview and he comes across well. Yes, he thinks Stockton got a couple of cheap free-kicks, but he also basically said that Cole was MotM. Bearing in mind it is a Lincoln manager, he's obviously seeing it from a Lincoln point of view. Cole should have had other, more blatant free-kicks, but he remained on his feet, and didn't get them. He has to go down in order to get a decision, and even then he doesn't always. Also, often, he has a huge handful of the defender's shirt too, so I think refs look at it as 'six of one, half-dozen of the other'?

Stockton Masterclass for me, if only we could keep him, worth my season ticket just to see him.
5 goals in three games, last week two goals an assist and cleared off the line.
his link up play and touches are sublime, best forward since JC.

What a shame he only played half a dozen games this season. If he'd played in more, we'd be safe by now. Still, the last three games will probably get him a League One club next season.

Funny reading the Lincoln forum and how much they hate Cole. Then the start talking about how good he is and how the hell Morecambe can afford him!

Figo and Damian Duff are weird comparisons - both attacking mids/wingers whereas Cole is a proper nine. He's dropped the ball there.

I like Mandroiu and think he has a bit about him, but he's got nothing on Cole as a target man. And I think Cole has flaws in that role - eg, James Vaughan was miles better at buying free kicks etc. But Mandroiu just isn't that guy.

As poor as the ref was on Saturday, I think the only decent bit about his game was that he let a lot of the battles go between Stockton and the CBs. Very pedantic otherwise though.

and if DA hadn't made Love captain in August we'd be well safe now, he made several mistakes that cost us points !

Thought it was a strange comment from the Lincoln manager, Cole was frequently getting manhandled during the game and got very little for it. One where the defender nearly undressed him which wasn't given was particularly baffling
