Fully agree Fulwood Shrimp, infact we should have been doing all that last week.

Yesterday I tweeted the club statement to the generic Northwest Tonight and Granada Reports accounts as well as David Morris and Robin Walker although I doubt the last two actually operate their own accounts.

I just hope the meeting doesn't end up turning into a lot of waffle and not much action comes from it.

So lets hope for something on Northwest Tonight in the near future.

You’re featured on the ‘Price of Football’ podcast today. Football finance expert Kieran McGuire is one of the hosts and they are listened to far and wide. They mention the Trust’s open letter etc so it is being noticed.

I've just had a go at that 'The Price of Football' podcast.
If you want to save listening to half an hour of Kevin Day sniffing while Kieran talks about football finances, the section concerning Morecambe starts at about 33:28.
There are then a couple of minutes of waffle before a general update of what's going on at the club.
The piece ends after about six minutes with Kevin describing the dangers of seaside clubs being sold off so the land can be used to build hotels, and Morecambe is called a "very quaint town". Hmm.

It's getting some 'national' attention anyway.

That plot of land next to The Hurley Flyer was supposed to be for a hotel.

Don't waste your time and effort on such a load of rubbish. They obviously haven't done any research suggesting that the ground could be made available for some kind of future development. Don't draw any conclusions about the takeover other than offer the name of someone connected with the Bond Group who is connected with someone at Yeovil Town FC who sounds a bit dodgy.

Like many others, I suspect, I won't be able to see tonight's meeting (in person or online) as I have a prior engagement.

Hoping that some kind person will summarise the key points afterwards here on SVs?

Thank you.

Hoping for a good meeting......

It’s a podcast, so really you need to load a podcast player - I’d never used one before.

I’m on a Mac which has Apple’s ‘Podcasts’ installed as standard. So I just started that and searched for ‘price of football’.

As RR says, the podcast doesn’t really have much info that people on here don’t already know.
The bit about ‘seaside clubs’ getting sold for ground redevelopment is just a general point made by one of the presenters, based on something that happened at Southend.

It just shows other people out there do have some idea of the state of things at the club, and publicises it a bit more.

That's the real key issue. We need the profile of the club, and what is going on, being talked about at a national level.

Some bloke once said, "the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about"/ Quite.

It sounds like a decent turn out at the Shrimps Trust meeting, which was good, with about an extra fifty or so following the Zoom meeting. The Zoom was appreciated, but unfortunately, it was at times really challenging to hear, depending upon where the microphone was. Hopefully, if there are future meetings, this will be repeated, but with better audio.

There was quite a lot of anger in the room, which was misplaced, but I think that was out of frustration with the situation generally.

Unless I missed it, my interpretation of the outcome was, the Trust have faith in the board (I think we all agree) to run the club as effectively as possible. They said that the owners have taken what they can out of the club, so they can't [for example] just dip-in and take any surplus cash. Therefore, they encouraged people to buy season tickets, as this money is safe from the owners' grasp, and urgently needed revenue for the club.

Beyond that, there is little to be done at the moment, we have to sit and wait to see what happens with the sale. Someone spoke [from Blackpool Supporters' Trust?] who said that the EFL see themselves as organisers of the competition rather than regulating owners, so changes to the oversight in football will be welcomed by the EFL.

Personally, I would like to see, under the Trust banner, a letter/email writing campaign to the Secretary of State for Culture Sport & Media, making them aware of the situation at Morecambe, encouraging removal of regulating powers from the EFL and approving a new body, pointing out the 'loophole' that there isn't a time limit for documents being presented to the EFL and making clear the direct connection between Morecambe FC & Worcester Warriors. I think this would have 'achievable goals', in that, nothing in reality would change, as there is nothing they can do to force the situation, and we wouldn't be asking them to do anything beyond there powers, but it would be a 'newsworthy story', and raise our profile.

I'm not sure what the conclusion is in terms going forward, beyond encouraging everyone to buy season tickets and join the Trust if you haven't already, or re-join, if one of the hundreds who didn't renew?

I agree Keith they said they weren't against a protest but we need to be sure who we are protesting against. Well isn't it to raise awareness that the EFL system is still rubbish and the government need to take a look at it. We need to apply pressure to both the EFL and Sarbjot and try and flush him out from his hiding place. He will either come forward or realise public opinion is against him once he start getting negative press and decide to move on.

Not sure who the lass was at the back on about playing Sarbjot at his own game and doing a targeted media campaign but she was brilliant hope that's something we move forward with.

The guy from Blackpool was Tim Wilkinson, he went through all the chaos with the Oystons. He said we are wasting our time if we think the EFL will be any use and reckons they will be gone within 2 years as all they do is arrange competitions
Enjoy yourself.... It is later than you think

I feel sure that one thing that could be done(and was probably raised at the meeting) was a strong letter to your MP urging action by the Sec of State for Culture Sport and Media. With a possible election next year I'm sure that Morecambe's MP would be keen to show he was doing something and making waves on behalf of the fans.

I sent Mr Morris an email last week after the meeting wanted to try and do my part he was quick to reply.
As its a private business it falls out of his responsibility and he has no authority to assert such matters but he did say he had written to the EFL to share the views of many of his concerned constituents had contacted him about.

If as Mr Wilkinson from B'pool said that the EFL simply organise comps. Who is supposed to make the rules to support clubs in a situation such as ours.

Is he 'Right Honourable'? How did that happen? I'm pretty sure he's only 'Honourable'?
Bonus points for knowing the difference! 8-)

As I mentioned previously, I think we should all be writing to The Secretary of State for Culture, Sport & Media, Rt Hon Lucy Frazer, copying David Morris and local & national media, asking her to 'ensure the EFL make a swift resolution to this ongoing situation, before irreversible damage is done to the football club, as has happened with Worcester Warriors Rugby Club'. I think a coordinated letter writing campaign would be best led by the Trust, with a 'copy & paste' email. The demands of any letter must be 'achievable', so nothing that is beyond her power, but, that puts the situation in the media.

It is looking like another week is going to pass without any sort of news from any source.
How long do we wait before we call a second meeting?

An announcement from the club on Season Ticket sales would be good. Even if sales are poor it could be used as a rallying call for people to get behind their club.

If there is a 2nd meeting could they arrange it for The Mazuma. Logistically the best place to hold it with car parking etc and puts some money in the till.
