This article is a waste of time, and is not really news worthy at all. The local sports reporter is a complete joker that is propped up by clickbait adverts; he couldn’t earn a living if it was based solely on newspaper sales.
Whilst there is bias towards the big clubs…. Wigan Athletic aren’t a big club.
Unlike our situation, their takeover has gone through quickly because the previous owner can’t pay the running costs and unsettled tax liabilities which threaten the existence of the club. There is an urgency to sell to a credible buyer.
Our situation is thus; we’re largely self-sufficient compared to an operation like Wigan… we’re not tied to big playing contracts we can’t afford, and are up to date paying bills. Bond Group want Sarb to be a credible buyer, so are waiting/hoping that they meet EFL fit and proper persons test. IMO this will never happen - it would already have happened if this was going to progress, but it’s their prerogative to wait. However, whilst they do wait and don’t invest into the club (having the highest ever Morecambe FC League Two budget is still likely to be a relegation survival kit, however they dress it up) - the value of their asset will keep decreasing.
This young drinks entrepreneur of a drinks brand you can’t buy really is a publicity hound, getting his name in the papers with every available club. It’s all about self promotion. Joseph Cala number two. The former Wigan owner saw this, and he’s clearly been dismissed as not a credible owner straight away. Now he’s just back to being a prospective owner of the Shrimps; we want an actual owner able to take us forward - and him floating around is not helping that prospect from happening whilst the pound signs are lighting up for the turkey teeth assassins.
Hello! Hello! We are the Morecambe boys!
