Silence is NOT golden

Silence is NOT golden

Postby redrobo » Mon Jun 19, 2023 6:01 pm

Can't believe that we've heard nothing from DA or our excellent BoDs about even potential signings.

Maybe the lack of resolve over the ownership is the root of the problems but as existing and potential fans we need some news to give us a hint of encouragement for what will be an interesting return to EFL2 football.

Silence is usually golden but NOT in this case....

It’s like Groundhog Day on social media with some folk.
No matter what is posted, the following day the same question is asked.
DA and Greg Strong have a list of players in positions we need, from what I can gather, sometimes three in each position.
They are trying to sign them, but with the budget only just being sorted just over two weeks ago, they have been busy. If they don’t get the first on the list, as money is an issue or moving or whatever, they move on to the next one!
As most players aren’t out of contract until the end of this month, there should be some announcements in July.
However, as with the last two seasons, with Ben and the media managers agreement, they have released the signings one at a time over a few days.
And memory tells us that DA and Greg will also be working on quality loan signings from higher up clubs, like Adam Phillips, Ryan Cooney, Jensen Weir, Liam Shaw, Kieran Phillips etc etc.
the season starts on August 6th? That’s 7 weeks away!!
No news is just no news, not necessarily bad news.

Not worried yet because Derek will have is team in mind and it will fall into place quite quickly.
But I'm. Still gonna have a little rant.....
The club goes into hibernation in close season. Social media is really poor compared to other clubs. What are they doing to get back the 1000 missing season ticket holders.? We should be holding events bringing the fans together. Fathers day should have been a sellout with our amazing award winning hospitality but we did nothing.
The 3 year plan failed because the club didn't and doesn't understand its very statement on the 3 year plan it put out. I hate slagging my club off but we have to change because before you know it we'll be the next Scunthorpe/Southend tumbling down the system.

I completely agree. A few years ago I rang up in December to see if they were doing Christmas lunches as so many places do and they are sold out usually when they are reputable.

I think it was Mark Dixon I spoke to and received a very curt reply to let me know the club were not doing Christmas dinners !

With regard to the lack of players , I agree , I am sure that The King and Greg Strong will be assembling a competitive squad and when pre season starts on 28th June we may be surprised at some of the quality.

Pre season at our training base at the College should be interesting to see and try to recognize those new faces that we all hope will be on show.

Unfortunately there are no bushes to hide behind.....

However to compensate ;) let's hope that we have a repeat of the highly successful pre season training videos to wet our appetites for the season ahead.

Don't need bushes to hide behind. Just casually walk back and forth between Thorpe Avenue and Morecambe Road on that little snicket.

So how did that work out then?
