One of the trialists is Oscar Threlkeld . Derek signed him for both Plymouth and Bradford.

Thank you.

A run out, but it feel like we're a bit late getting started. Hope the trialists impressed?

I really don't care about today or any day leading up to the Walsall game.....the season starts then, as do the prospects for the season in front of every team.

I agree that friendly results don’t matter as no points are at stake, but it’s possible that they are a predictor of things to come. Can’t get a team for one game and get beat by team that they should not. Even Bamber Bridge got a better result against Warrington town. They only lost 1-0. With no trialists making an impression it all adds up. I am not suggesting I can smell the coffee but the beans are certainly in the grinder.

Actually I thought triallist number 17 looked promising, seemed keen to get stuck in. Sixteen had a similar attitude but looked a bit short of fitness. 15 was Threlkeld, yes? He looked quite self-assured for a triallist, but if he's played for Derek before that would explain it. Charlie Brown looked all right, Slew clearly been keeping fit, Bedeau was way off his best so maybe he was one of the injured ones. Not sure Faz is best choice for captain but he was probably just covering for Love who wasn't playing today.
We did look like a team who'd only just met though, so a lot to do in the next three weeks.

Great summary from Shrimp Girl. I didn't go as I generally don't do preseason. Disappointing result though and to those saying we can lose every friendly, and get a result against Walsall, I'd say that's unlikely. In the context though, it's our first game as a team, more players are to be added and it sounded like Warrington already have matches under their belt. Let's hope we improve over the coming friendly games, get some goals and confidence and don't have a slow start like last season.

Could definitely see that yesterday - thought they looked a pretty good outfit.

Good for the players to get a run-out, ultimately always going to be one of those where people hadn't had time to gel and looked a bit short of sharpness. I'm sure it'll pick up in the coming weeks.

Was 3-5-2 generally throughout the game. Agree Bedeau was a bit off it yesterday, but Rawson, Stokes and him would be a really nice backline. Also agree that Slew looked pretty sharp - clearly been keeping himself fit.

Trialists all came on in the second half. Oscar Threlkeld came on at wing-back for Senior (no Love in the squad but he was there), can cover centre back or defensive midfield too which I imagine is what we'd sign him for if we do. Jacob Davenport was the midfielder, thought he looked really handy with the ball - apparently a very talented player, just been unlucky with injuries. I'd be very happy signing him. Kieran Agard and Louis Moult were the strikers brought on in the second half. Thought both showed some good movement in behind and endeavoured, but also looked quite a bit off it in terms of sharpness - guessing they've come into the building a little later.

It would appear that DA is going after experienced players who are without a club at the moment.

All yesterdays trialists have experience which would fill the current lack of numbers in our squad.

Both Kieran Agard and Louis Moult are established strikers having had a number of clubs in both EFL1 and 2 over the years.

Kieran is 33 years old whilst Louis is 31 so both are experienced although Louis I believe has a greater goal scoring record than Kieran. DA will know what is needed so we have to trust his judgement in recruitment matters.

Hopefully with a few loan additions DA can assemble a squad that is capable of holding its own in EFL2 which will no doubt be a difficult league in which to prosper.

Understand that James Wilson formerly of Salford and Port Vale has been mentioned as being of interest to DA. For me he would be ideal over the above mentioned strikers but as we are accustomed to by now, money may be an issue.... :(
