What though would [or could] have enthused you? A few weeks ago there wasn't a team, and precious little optimism or expectation.....but today 10 [ten] goals have been scored.

Still a long way to go, the first game v Walsall is a very important indicator, but so far progress is in the right direction and mainly in the opposition's half of the field.

Still got a couple of tasty pre-season games to go.....enjoy.

Not the sternest of tests for us today - Burscough used to be a decent non-league side but these days they don’t seem to be much better than Sunday league standard.

Enjoyable to see the shrimps on the right side of a cricket score though, and hopefully this will build confidence.

Bloxham looks like some player - skillful and powerful. Mellon looked up for it and he’s one who I think will benefit from having scored some goals in pre season.

A pre-season friendly is no more than a glorified training session, and I don't get "overly" (you missed that important word out) enthused by those either. Likewise as I said, I wasn't upset by the Warrington defeat. I was concerned by our inability to field a team v Workington, and agree, the direction of travel since then has been positive. We could beat Wigan & Blackpool by cricket scores, or, get thrashed by them, and it still will not mean anything come the start of August. That's when I'll get enthused... ...probably overly so!

So how did that work out then?

Sorry to have to say this but the clubs coverage of our preseason games has not been that good with no interviews and no video coverage other than that provided by Southport. Not expecting in depth coverage but goal action would have been appreciated.

Maybe the upcoming games v Blackpool and Wigan will provided some post match interviews and video of any goal action..... :?: :?: :?:

Went to Burscough game, Rawson and Bedeau solid as they should have been. Love, just concentrate please!! Songo’o played well. Bloxham has good control for a big lad. Adam looks like he has bulked up and scored two good goals. Mellor has goals in him, really should have had a few more. I need another look at the other lads on Tuesday and Saturday to judge them against better opponents, thou number 17 came on and did well, good movement and wanting to get forward. Lastly Get Max fit, then sign another centre half and a forward.

Promising result but sounds like Burscough are a very weak side, can't complain with 10-1 though.

Expect the Wigan game to essentially be a dress rehearsal for Walsall in terms of team selection and tactics so if we avoid defeat in that game then I would be somewhat enthused for the coming season.
