Well today’s game very interesting
Thought we held our own and looked sharp in parts,
Positive about the new signings all looked stand outs for me was Bloxham,Davenport,Senior and JJ

C Smith and King, Brown looked good when the came on

Ref was poor three or four blantent pull backs by Wigan which should really been a yellow but just a free kick
But gave one out ours a yellow I think for a hard tackle by their area

Heard there was a turnstile/ software problem with some tickets hopefully that will be sorted by Saturday

All in all think we’ll do ok this season and upset a few teams

Played 5 pre season friendlies and i think Derek will know his starting 11 for next week v Walsall

Warrington (a) Lost 0 - 2

Southport (a) Won 3 - 1

Burscough (a) Won 10 - 1

Blackpool (h) Drew 1 - 1

Wigan (h) Lost 0 - 2

So played 5 won 2 drawn 1 and lost 2

I think the starting 11 today will probably be the starting 11 against Walsall but could be wrong !!!!

Don't think Senior will be LB and it's a coin toss who starts in goal but other than that your right.

After the encouraging performance v Blackpool in part, today's game :?: was a nothing type of game where we seemed to lack any physical effort or attacking intent which was frustrating to watch.

Maybe it was DA being ultra cautious ( showed little touchline encouragement) with only a week to go to the start of the season but we had nothing about us in the first 45 and only the introduction of certain subs was the pattern of our play slightly better.

The only good thing to come out of the game was that everybody in our squad got a run out and the new signing from Cardiff looked good.

Hopefully for next weeks opener the lads will show a lot more attacking intent and not be content on relinquishing midfield as we did today.

Love was his usual useless self and can't see Smith being in goals.

With no programmes or team sheets being available this season the club are wanting us to rely on Social Media for match day team news.....WRONG WRONG WRONG....

Boring.....and must do 100% better.

Boring game and we lacked creativity but I thought we were solid and reasonably competitive. The building blocks are there. If we can get a win against Walsall, nobody will care about or remember these friendlies anyway.

I think the thread title refers to you RR. 2 days ago,on a different thread, you were calling on all to back DA for the great job he's done in assembling this squad on a low budget. Today you are criticising him for being ultra cautious and showing little touchline encouragement. Where's the 'backing' in that?

Same old RR.

I was impressed by Cammy Smith when he came on. Suddenly we had someone driving us on from midfield with some really strong runs.

My main worry is the lack of an experienced striker/target man. We do look a bit lightweight and I can see more experienced teams bullying our young forwards.

Let's hope Derek has something up his sleeve. The problem with Loanees is that the ones we can acquire are always going to be very young. Nobody is going to lend us a 28 year old striker capable of 15 goals a season.

As I live 300 miles away and have had a stroke I do not attend many matches and therefore rarely comment on the actual matches as I don't think I am capable of doing so. Unfortunately I will not be attending any games this year as there are no games near enough for me to get to.

Anyway I wasn't criticising your comments of the game more your lack of support for DA, in what was only a friendly, merely 2 days after calling for everyone to support him.

I think we were more combative in the second half, and was impressed by some of the new boys. Not sure Donald Love deserves the negativity. I noted that he was effective when he moved into midfield at the start of the second half and was much better than Songo in breaking up the play. Agree that we might be a bit light up front.

Still think Kieran Phillips could be a possibility

Not sure what's happenin with him

Doesn't seem to have played for Huddersfield much if at in pre season

Could be injured

id just like to bring in another left-back as Melbourne is too injury prone and also it allows Senior to go right-back his preferred position where he did so well for Carlisle.
