England v Haiti, tomorrow [Sat] 10:30am ITV.

Should be a nice & easy start to the competition, like England's men v Lancaster City

Unfortunately I'll not be able to watch, we're competing in Barbon Hill Climb tomorrow, or Barbon River Climb as it will probably be known!
Mick Grant will be there too, you know! I'll give him a run for his money!

Edit;- & Keith, why Englands men? why not just England? :ugeek:

Probably because Lancaster would beat England Women so the distinction is needed. Shaping up to be a good tournament already and I think England have a very good chance, game against Haiti could be a cricket score though!

Not a great fan of the female game, but Haiti had to go through qualifications, so have earned their right to be in Australia.

Well, that didn't pan out as expected! Haiti probably deserved a draw at least. Certainly, the best couple of saves were from England's keeper, Earps, and we only scored from a very silly penalty to give away.

Hopefully we'll improve.

I don't follow the women football at all, but the result doesn't surprise me when you consider that to qualify for the Finals there must have been some decent opposition to get past along the way.

I suspect but haven't got a clue, maybe many of the Haitian play their football abroad as I can't see there being much of an infrastructure for the game in Haiti. If that's the case then they ought to be players of a decent standard.

Haiti were pretty good actually

A lot of their vey young team play in France and although England had more chances Haiti looked quite dangerous on the break with their main striker looking excellent. Good game, well refereed, enjoyed it.

Liked the Venezualan referee being on the mic for VAR too. Great idea, should be in the mens game as well.

Denmark and China to come for England. Early days yet

Definitely agree with this. VAR for people watching on TV makes sense, but for fans who are at the match, they don't get to see what the ref has, so an explanation would be useful.

3 games this morning.

ITALY just squeeze past ARGENTINA 1-0 with a late winner from supersub Girelli with her smart header late on leaving Argentina stil surprisingly in search of their first ever World Cup win

GERMANY take on MOROCCO next.
They have to do it without their injured outstanding star midfielder Oberdorff
What a talent she was in the Euros last summer. For me the player of the tournament,
Lionesses excluded of course. They do have the prolific Alexandra Popp in the side

Here we go then

Told you she was prolific
Popp 10 min 1-0
erm, sorry i mean Popp 38 min 2-0

Final score 6-0 Germany starting off ruthless. BRAZIL v PANAMA next

Phew. Not making it easy. A cracking goal to win the game, but both Haiti & Denmark arguably should have both got a point. But, played two, won two, with two clean sheets.

The Lionesses will need to improve if they are to beat the likes of USA and Germany.....

Still, 2 wins out of 2.......

First 20 mins they were really good but then went completely off the boil. Danish defenders moved faster to the ball than our attack.
They looked as if they were coming to the end of a long season!

Love it - thanx guys

Anyway SPAIN v JAPAN this morning and at HT its 0-3 to JAPAN with a superb display of on-the-break counter attacking football. 3 breaks - 3 goals. Perfect half, but what has happened to Spain

Fina score 0-4 . Spain suffer biggest defeat in 11 years. Japan 4 shots 4 goals. impressive.

so ENGLAND v CHINA for a place in the next stage

Slightly divided loyalties with a half Chinese, and therefore China supporting says her mum , eleven year old daughter - diplomatically i .say a draw would be nice

Anyway both teams singing their own national anthems far more loyally than the bratty Americans did

1-0 Russo oops

Greenwood put in some superb crosses against Haiti. A good weapon to have
Lauren Hemp 2-0 26 mins
Could have been 3 - it is now, Lauren James 41 mins 3-0
wow, 4-0 James again DISALLOWED - still 3-0 HT

Wang Shu 57 min penalty for a Lucy Bronze handball 3-1
As you were - James 65 mins with a belter 4-1
A howler from keeper Zhu and thats 5-1
Daly makes it 6-1 and a commanding performance from England
