Ref was a shocker. Sure there was instructions about plyers answering back but I think only one of the ten yellows was for a foul. A battling performance and great to start with a win.

Well that was a bit of a wake up call
We were awful but before you pat your selves on the back, so were you !
A draw would have been a fair result in my opinion but that's the way it is.
There were a lot bigger defeats for some of the so called "BIG" sides so on we go to the next game.
Thanks for a great day out and the hospitality and friendliness shown to our fans on the sea front and in the local bars / pubs was second to none !
Have a good season and see you again next year.
Thanks.

Wake call for you pal
We are favourites to go down remember but we will just out battle these teams that think they are better then they actually are.
Safe journey home

First half Walsall were shocking and we were good and had 65% possession, where has Derek ball gone.
Second half Walsall woke up but it was a poor typical league 2 half of football.

Agree with most of that but I thought both teams had purple patches where they dominated and played very well. We are a new team by and large, compared to what we had in the last two seasons in EFL 1. Our three starters up front today had an average age of just 19! Finances dictate that we are on a 'break even' budget this season so there will be no 'marquee' signings turning out for us in the near future. What we do have is a management team who can get the very best out of what's available to them and that's just what we need this season thanks, because we definitely don't need back to back relegations.

Hope you and your fans (apart from the result) have had a decent trip. Those who came up Friday got a bit of un-forecasted sun and I believe it's the same tomorrow for those stopping over.

We are a friendly bunch by and large so enjoy your evening by the sea tonight and as we often say 'Don't let the football spoil your day/weekend out.

Congrats on winning Morecambe winning,a sold enough start, sat back and let them play too much in the second half and subs put on too late. Ref booking crazy, just the FA collecting fines. Let’s see where we are at the end of August and take it from there.

We looked competitive, played well (at least in patches) and have some handy players. It was great to see in our first proper game that we have the makings of a decent team. Rawson and Bedeau were outstanding, Mayor is a real asset and King slotted in well.

My only slight concern was Moore in goal who didn’t have much to do but looked unconvincing when crosses and corners were delivered into the box.

The game was quite even in reality but it’s good to see that we can nick late winners and be on the right side of results.

I just hope that we don’t get half our squad suspended at some point due to the number of yellow cards that are going to get doled out this season :o

Great start.

Enjoyed the game, either side could have won.
Predicted a loss but bet on a 2.1 win happy days.
Shame about the ref, 4th and the new rules

These new rules will only work for the fans if the fans are completely happy. For me that means not having to practically sprint to Morecambe train station after the game to catch the one an hour train to Lancaster in order to get a main line connection.

So I reckon a solution is to bring kick-off time forward to 1430, and 1900 mid-week.

Despite the 6 minutes at the end of the first half, and the indicated 8 (closer to 11) at the end of the second, at least three matches in League 2 finished later so it seems the rules were fairly consistent.
