I had a read of their forum. When Jim was appointed, there were 'port fans who weren't happy, because of Jim's Morecambe record, and he mentioned his love of us, in his interview. They still think they are our rivals! When did we last play Southport (or Lancaster) competitively? Bless 'em!

As far as I can see, this is the last time we finished below both Southport and Lancaster in a season.

In fact that looks like the last time Lancaster finished above us. 40+ years now.

it was a shame the Lawrie Milligan goal he fired in from over 30 yards was given as offside as one of our forwards was in an offside position!! It would've counted these days and it was 0-0 at the time! one of the best goals he never scoredKeith wrote:Seasider9601 wrote:And the week AFTER that.... Workington 7 Morecambe 0
EXCUSE ME!!!
7-1 if you don't mind!
It wasn't easy, being a Morecambe fan at Morecambe High School back then. I was in the same class as Sean Gallagher (Lancaster's manager) which didn't help!
That Bangor match, everything they hit went in, some of their goals were superb.
