Another poor referee

But to be fair he hasn’t been tricked to often by their dark arts that’s the first half done

Second half he got sucked in there lad went down on what the ref deemed a fair tackle we played on for a good 1-2 mins with the lad lying there with movement so not I any distress or holding his head ,the ref stopped the game with us still in possession went to the “injured” player who got up and required no treatment
Another game were the away team and dugout referee the game, liner on the Berlin Wall stopped at the pie shop en-route to the ground and another who wouldn’t make a call
Poor standard of ref again

Not condoning it but maybe we need to start using the dark arts more especially away from home

I think the referees are consistently poor and wonder how many of them make the league list when they are so abysmal. I never cease to be amazed how little they are helped by the assistants. I am not sure what their role is as they don’t seem to assist the refs at all. We have a system that seems to be producing the worst referees and referees assistants in Europe.

Pictures show that it was clearly outside the box. We never get any kind of luck.

It looked like a penalty but I was 50-60 yards away, the ref was 15-25 yards away and gave a penalty. I’ve watched it on close up and I and the ref was wrong, it was just outside the box and the momentum took them both in the box, the Swindon player decided to take the tackle then trying to score and fell with his momentum into the box. Lastly, Songo’o got the ball, probably until VAR is in our league things that escape the eye, will be given. Does it equal it self out???

I don't think the ref was too bad. Certainly, nowhere near as bad as many we've had. And he tried to let the game go. I do think there were a couple of decisions that went Swindon's way, such as a Morecambe player gets grappled, nothing given, then very similar a moment later, free-kick & yellow card.

The penalty, I've watched it a couple of times. Initially, I thought Songo'o got the ball, but rewatching, I don't think he did, so foul and yellow card were correct. Inside or outside the area? He slides in before they get to the line, but where was initial contact? Even watching it back, it is difficult to say. It probably was outside the area, but understandable how the ref got it wrong. Mellon's sending off was a dreadful decision because the defender was fouling Mellon in the first place, so it should have been a free-kick to us, and a red card for their player. Even ignoring that, I don't think it was a yellow card offence for the foul, he was trying to get a shot away when he was tackled. Rawson's sending off was a wrong decision. The free-kick should have gone to us. How often do attackers get a 50:50 decision, in an attacking position? It always goes to the defender. They got the 50:50 decision, scored, and Rawson off. Yesterday was bad luck rather than crap ref, in my opinion.

At the time I thought it was in the area but Songo’o got the ball. Watching it back and freezing the video, it was a foul but clearly outside the area so yes, it’s the wrong decision. That said, when you watch the video in real time (without pausing) it does look very much inside the area so without having VAR to consult, I can’t blame the referee too much. Still… when are we going to get a dodgy pen???

And that’s what I thought the liner was for to look across the playing surface to determine where the player/tackle occurs
But in the last few matches I’ve seen the liner’s seem to offer no help to the refs
