I don't think the ref was too bad. Certainly, nowhere near as bad as many we've had. And he tried to let the game go. I do think there were a couple of decisions that went Swindon's way, such as a Morecambe player gets grappled, nothing given, then very similar a moment later, free-kick & yellow card.
The penalty, I've watched it a couple of times. Initially, I thought Songo'o got the ball, but rewatching, I don't think he did, so foul and yellow card were correct. Inside or outside the area? He slides in before they get to the line, but where was initial contact? Even watching it back, it is difficult to say. It probably was outside the area, but understandable how the ref got it wrong. Mellon's sending off was a dreadful decision because the defender was fouling Mellon in the first place, so it should have been a free-kick to us, and a red card for their player. Even ignoring that, I don't think it was a yellow card offence for the foul, he was trying to get a shot away when he was tackled. Rawson's sending off was a wrong decision. The free-kick should have gone to us. How often do attackers get a 50:50 decision, in an attacking position? It always goes to the defender. They got the 50:50 decision, scored, and Rawson off. Yesterday was bad luck rather than crap ref, in my opinion.

So how did that work out then?
