Lodging Suggestions

Postby AndyReifman » Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:42 am

My wife and I are coming to town for the weekend of the Mansfield match in January, hopefully the weather cooperates!

Does anyone have suggestions for where we should stay? We'll be taking the train into town Saturday morning, so would love to be able to drop off our bags before heading to the stadium.

Try this place
https://www.thesanderling.co.uk/en/booking/room
It's owned by a Morecambe fan and its in an ideal location for the stadium or walking into town.

I'd make a weekend of it, and would without doubt stay at The Strathmore Hotel on the prom next to where The Broadway used to be.

Unfortunately The Stathmore has been commandeered, had its function changed, and is no longer open to the General Public.

So yep I'd give The Sanderling my business.

The Home Office announced to Dave Morris MP last week that the Strathmore hotel is one of the hotels in the UK that is being vacated by the illegal immigrants in the next month or so and returned to normal punters.

My place is available. Bookings via Airbnb, or contact me directly for a 'Shrimps Voices discount'. 8-) Very close to the train station, so bag drop on arrival is not a problem. We're connected to The Crown Hotel by a bridge!

So how did that work out then?

I've got baited breath. It will cost a lot of money to get The Strathmore ready to open up to the British Public, of course it will be the tax payer who foots the bill. Convincing the UK General Public to use these hotels again isn't going to be simple either.

I also wonder what will become of the few thousand asylum seekers/illegal economic migrants who will need to be re-billeted somewhere when the hotels mentioned revert back to the Uk hospitality industry, and used as they should be. Wherever they are 'housed' will be at great expense to the UK tax payer.

Apologies for going O/T.

From past experience, not a bad move.....I have other avenues available to express my feelings. ;)

Hey Keith, did you know that by the time Shrimps play Grimsby on Saturday 11 November, most of the team will have had to do 2 minutes silence in respect of Remembrance on 3 occasions. They ought to be good at it by then.
