Barrow v Liverpool u21s o/t

Barrow v Liverpool u21s o/t

Could do with a Barrow win tonight

If Liverpool u21s draw we would need to win at Blackpool next week

If Barrow win we would only need a draw at Blackpool

If Liverpool u21s win I think we would be out as they beat us earlier in the tournament

That's for those who are still interested

Not sure if I'm fussed either way. We haven't really got the squad depth to be competing in multiple competitions but I always naturally want us to succeed in every game. The prize money for each round isn't much but it's not nothing either.

More than happy for us to drop out of this one. Small squad and games in hand means we can do without this and concentrate on the league. FA Cup is a different matter entirely.

What would happen if Barrow win 3-1 and Morecambe lose 1-0 to Blackpool?
We'd all have the same goal difference

Will be a tough ask but we need a draw away to Blackpool

Blackpool already through but we will be short due to call ups again

Let's see what happens

Win by 4 goals or more, we finish top.
Win by 3 goals or fewer, or draw, we finish second.
Lose 1-0 or 2-0, we finish third.
Lose by 3 goals or more, we finish bottom.

Unlikely to finish top or bottom.

Wonder who will be in goal? Could we see Pedley given a debut? May be worth giving him the experience, just in case he's needed at some point?

So how did that work out then?

With possibly 5 on international duty and no game on 18th November I would think Derek will play as strong a team as possible. Be tough on Smith to be dropped from a competition he usually plays in especially as we have a chance to progress and make some money. Maybe Blackpool will play a much changed team and we manage a win for the £8,000.

Prize money is back up to £10k for a win now that Bristol Street Motors are sponsoring the competition.

But Smith is now first choice in the Football League until the end of the year. But if he gets injured or sent off, Pedley will get game time whether ready or not, so this may be a chance for some experience? Not saying he will play, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.
