To be fair, he might struggle to attract them, not exactly selling it is he?

Depends whether we have the money by then to offer new contracts. Remember the end of last season :(

I'll double your salary, and you'll be looked upon as kings. First name on the team sheet, you are so much better than the rest of the players here...

That'd do it.

Just doubling the salary would do it.

Are Ross County that much better off than Morecambe Fc that they could double the pay of our players..

We all know DA says it as he sees it BUT I can't recall ever hearing or seeing him so annoyed with what ever we produced when he was our manager.

Wonder if he is regretting moving back home despite the continuing off field problems that he was so vocal about?

Just hope that he doesn't come knocking on our door during the transfer window and that GB's lads prefer playing in England in EFL2 or maybe EFL1 despite the possibility of more money.

You made your choice DA...nobody drove you out .....so you'll have to live with it....

I can imagine that he will not be popular with other managers North of the Border..... :)

If you recall DA rubbished the squads he inherited from JB and Robinson. I think its a tactic he uses to take the pressure off himself for results. Although his latest comments will have upset most of Scotland!

The king is dead!Looking at the various forums in Scotland he is being universally ridiculed for his crazy outburst.Thought he was unpopular in England but it’s off the scale up there.
Looking at their run of games through to the end of January Dross County could be propping up the table by then.

He was dead right about the squads he inherited from JB and Robinson. The JB squad was very unbalanced , Derek likes 2 players for each of the positions. The Robinson squad had poor players on expensive 2 year contracts meaning he had to deal with a number of players who were not buying into his ideas and were just sitting in the stand.

My worry is that Derek left because he knows something regarding the sale of the club either not happening or not happening in a way to help us challenge. A few weeks ago he was quite positive , mentioning us making the Championship etc and next thing he has gone to Ross County.

No idea how much better off they are, but I'd guess 'substantially'. Perhaps not double, but certainly 'more'.

Regarding his outburst, I wonder if it actually a clever move. Some player will not like it, sulk, and move on quite quickly. Some players won't like it, and knuckle down and work harder. Derek likes players who are 100% committed to him, the rest he will ruthlessly remove.

As for his return to Scotland, I suspect Ross County remain a club that he likes, and, rumour has it, he still has property up there, so when the opportunity came, he took it. I doubt it has a lot to do with our ownership fiasco. Not that it helps, obviously.

Do I detect a bit of anti-Derek feeling on this thread? Let's not forget how much we owe him or that the squad we are looking good with now was assembled by him.

Not from me. Derek has left us in a far better place than we were when he joined us in November 2019. Then we were hurtling towards the Conference although Bury and Macclesfield's financial demises would have saved us like they did save Stevenage.

The present squad was assembled by Derek and it will be interesting to see how it looks on 31st January. I am a bit worried :?

I'd rather Derek hadn't left, but can understand why he did. I don't have any animosity towards him. Stephen Robinson on the other hand, was a complete tosser, who was only in it for himself, talking bollocks about a long term plan, while waiting for a job to come up north of the border. Derek did an amazing job with us, Robinson spent all the cash, then jumped ship.

They were always lurking in the shadows and in secret facebook groups. Can you imagine where we would be without him? I have no doubt that we would be lucky to still be in the National League if Derek Adams never came and dragged us out of the mud. He moved us on to levels we never dreamt off but some weren't happy.

I thought his comments were fair. Everyone knows that the SPL is a 2 team league with the rest L2 standard or below.

Have to admit I was a wee bit anti DA last season but saw the error in my way and was full of respect for him since the end of the same season.

Doubt very few managers have the ability to put together a new squad in such a short time with sod all finance...but DA did it and we should all be grateful.

BUT he's gone for whatever reason and GB is now the leader and is appears that he has loosened the shackles and the team are now playing with a new lease of life.

When was the last time we had so many shots at goal with so many on target as we had v Doncaster?

I'll always be thankful for what DA did but the club have moved on as has DA BUT will a return to an EFL club be on the cards sooner than later after his recent outburst even though he spoke the truth.... :?: :?: :?:

You can see Ged's influence on the team already with defenders getting into more forward positions during open play than they did under Derek. Against Stockport Big Dave had a big part to play with the goal and got on the scoresheet at Doncaster as did Bedeau.

Also very interesting from Ged on this weeks podcast was his talk on his coaching sessions for body shape when receiving the ball to get ahead of defenders. Never better demonstrated than for Mellons first goal!

Derek going to Ross County was a pretty rubbish career move, and I think his outburst on Saturday goes further in confirming that he didn't move their for footballing reasons - he moved because he got paid late twice last season, so fair enough! I guess today's statements highlight that issue even further.

With both Derek's and Robbo's moves back north of the border, I think they're fundamentally ones that anyone would make in any industry, and it's a bit silly to hold much bitterness to either.

Someone offers to quadruple your salary? You'd absolutely be off. Someone offers you a similar/relatively comfortable position after your current employers paid you late twice over the past year? You'd also more than likely be off.
