January Transfare’s window.

January Transfare’s window.

First of all let’s hope we keep all our loan players. They question is do we strengthen, do we need too?, for a big push at promotion. Or do we use any capital at the club to offer extensions to contract on players like JJ, Stuart Moore, David Tutunda, Joel Senior, Jordan Senior and maybe one or two more tiring them down at the club. What do we do?

Even if Burnley recall Mellon, I hope they leave him with us until after the Swansea game. If we could cause an FA Cup upset, it would be immense for the club financially. Apparently we have some contract extension options on some players (don't know who?) so we may not need to spend that cash right now. That said, offering new contracts in January, would psychologically be powerful.

Our biggest challenge is keeping the ones we've got on loan now. I am hoping against hope that Burnley & Michael decide that playing week in, week out, and scoring is building his confidence rather than going somewhere else and potentially ending up on the bench at a League One side... ...or a Scottish Premier League team?

So how did that work out then?

I believe Mellon is with us until the transfer window opens on 8th January at the very least. The Swansea game being played on 6th January he will definitely be available for that as he'll still be our player.

Burnley have shown they can be ruthless with recalling loan players (Phillips). however he was someone they wanted to unload and that may have had a bearing on the decision. Michael is different in so much as at the moment he is one they probably want to keep for the future. He is developing very nicely at our club so why disrupt that? Still a young lad, just leave him to the end of the season.

Watching the Adams video post Dundee. What's the chances he comes sniffing round in the window trying to poach one of two.

Burnley may want to place Michael in either an EFL1 or even Championship club as part of his development and will do what they think is best for their player. They may even take him back to be used as a sub in their Premiership games.... :?: :?: :?:

Maybe even a move to Scotland to enhance his International career BUT after DA's outburst that may now be low on their consideration list.

Can’t imagine any of them would really want to go. He hasn’t sold the league particularly well.

I think a few positive results like Doncaster over the next few weeks might reassure Burnley and other parent clubs that the right decision would be to leave their players to continue developing with us for the season. Although Blackburn would be well within their rights to recall Walker, we’ve barely given him a chance.

Can anyone think of a player recalled from a league 2 club and reloaned to a higher league that has ever worked out well?

I think we will keep Mellon and King but possibly lose Bloxham and Connelly.

Why uproot Mellon and King whilst they are in such good form. Leave MM here and he will get 25 this season and King will have more touches on the ball here than if he goes League 1.

Salop have discussed recalling Bloxham in January due to shortage in numbers at town but will not make a decision without speaking to the player 1st so it sounds as though it comes down to him deciding whether or not he's happy with us plus what he thinks are his chances of 1st team footie back at home. We will find out in 3/4 weeks time
