Cast your minds back to the last time we played the Dons at home and on that day they out passed us and played us off the park.
Yesterday in some ways it was a repeat of that game. There were times when we simply could not get hold of the ball as they passed it to feet time after time after time. When we did manage to get hold of the ball we played some good football but all too infrequently. Our passing at times was dreadful and as a result it enabled the Dons to counter attack with speed something that their midfield players excelled at.
On the balance of play a draw would possibly have been a fair result but in contrast to last weeks 21 shots on total all we could muster was 8 which must have been of concern to GB whose master plan for the game was not carried out by his charges.
Team selection wise we were always going to struggle with Slew as the main man and for me he should have been replaced at H/T by either Walker or Brown and when Brown did make it from the bench he went out onto the wing as a replacement for Bloxham who at times was an option for the forward runs of Senior who lost the ball on too many occasions to be effective going forward.
Adam's cross for JJ's goal was superb but on too many times he over hit his crosses and they ended up out of play on the opposite side.
Without doubt we missed MM and it gave us an insight to what may happen if in January he is recalled for another loan to possibly a Championship club.....
GB is new into his managerial career and I'm confident that given the backing of the powers that he will succeed BUT it will be a tough learning curve for the remainder of this season and any thoughts of promotion should be cast aside. This close season he will have to rebuild the squad in his image....something that he will have to get used to....hopefully with the backing of new owners.....
Talking of which did others notice the two prosperous looking gentlemen who seemed very interested in what was going on not only on the field but off as well before they left to return to their new black Mercedes SUV and private number plated black Range Rover.
Wishful thinking on my part.....
