MFC Transfer update January 2024

It might not be good news for Morecambe surrounding the recall of Tom Bloxham. Jed said he wants him to stay and all loan players have indicated they are willing to stay. Shrewsbury’s injuries have impacted greatly on Shewsbury and they were in contact with Tom before Christmas. This latest report in the papers, to me anyway is that thou they would like Tom to continue at Morecambe and are more than happy with how he has performed and how Morecambe have handled him, unfortunately with their situation it may mean they recall him. It will depend on the length of each players lay off’s due to injury. We wait till around the 7th and hope Tom getting first team football means they let him stay.

"he has had a really positive loan" but it's coming down to Shropshire's injuries. It's the time of year when many clubs have injuries so you can see their point. It doesn't sound as if they'll recall him just to send him out on loan to someone else. Fingers crossed.

According a Tweet from someone at Gateshead he has been training at Morecambe and will be announced soon. Obviously can't play tomorrow so there is no rush.

been loaned out a lot and even then never commanded the number one shirt, this sounds like Archie might just becoming in to back up Smithy who will stay as number one.

I disagree but time will tell. Why would he agree to be recalled from a season long loan at Gateshead who are in the play off places currently to be a bench warmer in the EFL. Footballers want to play football, well most anyway lol I also can’t see Norwich recalling him from a No1 spot playing regular competitive football to be loaned back out to warm the bench and achieving nothing, nahhh this lad is here to play football

He’s from a league 1 team on loan to a league 2 team so no they won’t recall him to send him out again unless he’s not playing regular in which case they might and send him out again to benefit his career but he is playing regular so like Connolly he ‘might’ get recalled but only due to Shrewsburys injury situation however ‘if’ he has told the Salop hierarchy that he is happy and would prefer to stay with us as long as he is playing regularly and Shrewsbury can’t promise regular football then he will imo remain with us but fingers crossed because Shrewsbury are suffering with shortages at present. We will know soon enough, I suppose the decider will be whether they think they can get someone else on loan or for next to no cash as Tom will return at the end of the season if not before

Joe Lewis was loaned to us by Norwich also. If Archie plays as well as Joe did he'll be very useful.

Welcome Archie! :D

King apparently going to Ross County, they also want a couple more I’ve heard Mellor if they can get him and maybe Bloxham too!! Blackpool still after Mayor, Let’s hope the 2000+ Jed has looked at that there are a few diamonds amongst them.

It's no surprise tho. He was brought in by the previous manager, not the current one.

I've really enjoyed watching Eli as a Morecambe player. Thanks Eli for all that you've done for our club and getting us towards safety in our first season back in L2.

Jacob Davenport looked very good in preseason before Eli arrived, and Donald Love does a very good job as CDM.

I didn't see Gwion Edwards' game at Swansea on Saturday but I heard he looked impressive and he is contracted so potential for next season too. He can play left or right wing so he's either cover for Tom or Adam if we lose either, or competing for places with them if not.

It's that time in this season to look at establishing the basis of a great team for next season.

No surprises. A complete rebuild in January AND at the end of each season the norm now?

Will someone PLEASE buy the club before Whittingham destroys us?

Personally I think it's ridiculous to be recalling players mid season to send out to another team. These teams are just trying to rush through the development of these players and does it ever really work?

Dynel Simeu hardly kicked on for us when Southampton recalled him from Tranmere last season and Adam Phillips stalled when he left us midway through our promotion season.

You could even make an argument that Archie Mair would have been better remaining at Gateshead even though that's one that is benefiting us.

Fair enough on Connelly and Bloxham, if they bring those players back with the intention of playing them then I've got to arguments with that.

This is how it's going to be until we get a new owner. Each Summer we will only be signing players on one year contracts , meaning if they improve we lose them for nothing at the end of the season !

Mellon recalled by Burnley, as pointed out our team is going to look different. I think that’s one of the reasons Jed has played a few others over resent games. Is it worth thinking of bringing in someone from the Vanarama leagues?
