Would We Be Ready For League One?

Would We Be Ready For League One?

There is an interesting question on FB, asking if we'd be ready for League One if we actually made it to the Play-Offs and got up?

Most people were emphatically "no" and would prefer to stay in League Two.

I think the opposite. I'd love for us to go up. Being a yo-yo club for a few seasons would be great. Use the additional income to build & develop. Being in League One, playing teams like Sunderland & Ipswich, as their peers was a fantastic experience.

If we were to go up, we'd potentially be playing Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City or even, Blackburn Rovers, as their equals. What's not to like about that, even if it was a season of struggle?

Also, I don't know how much the 'parachute payments' (or "solidarity payment") is worth, but it will be another dent in our finances if we don't go back up.

Plus, if we were to go back up this season, it would require another Wembley victory.

Go up.
Invest the extra money in long term development of the club.
Get relegated.
Be even stronger in 2025/26.

So how did that work out then?

Completely agree, why wouldn't you want a Wembley win and to play the sides you have mentioned?

As for investing the extra money, that would probably only be an option once under new ownership. If that ever happens...

Yes, nothing wrong with promotion at any time and, as we've all now experienced, we can survive the previously-dreaded relegation too. No point in us fans worrying about it, just enjoy the ride!

100 percent correct John L

If we go up we go up

Playing better quality teams in league 1 would always be a bonus

Going up is a guarantee of at least 2 more seasons in the EFL.

No brainer , if it happens , welcome promotion.
