To Chesterfield who have today won the National League

Looking at the remaining fixtures Sutton and Forest Green look like swapping places

Yeah bad news that because we can’t beat Chesterfield - they’ll have a bigger budget than us!

We can when we're 0-3 down at half time or in FA Cup matches ;)

The Spireites actually have a pretty woeful record against the Shrimps.... albeit its not Southend style

Morecambe record vs Lesterfield

P15 W6 D7 L2 having first met in 2002 which saw the Shrimps, then non-league, claimed a memorable first round FA Cup victory at Saltergate

Glad to have them back - a decent away game, and a return to the Derby Tup

Was it really as long ago as 2002 when Thommo smashed in a late winner at the old Chesterfield ground?

Yes - over 21 years ago now

Chants of 'will you come to Christie Park?' echoed on the open away terrace as the travelling support goaded the home faithful.... only for Thommo to run through on goal and lift the ball into the net for a stoppage-time winner which sparked a mini-pitch invasion.... they were heady days indeed!
