If that's the case then they have another payroll to drip feed in 10 days time. And another one a month later with no matchday income to provide any funds.

According to Andy Holt at Accrington the new Sky deal will give EFL2 clubs an extra £300,000 per year but that won't be coming to the club bank yet.

There has to be more to what's happening than that. I keep going asking myself how we can give Edwards a 2 year deal if nothing has changed.

Agreed and he is quite a high profile player who could attract richer clubs and it is effectively a 3 year deal and we haven't handed those out since the days of Twiss , Carl Baker , Mark Duffy etc and those were only to protect any transfer fees.

When clubs sign players for X length of time it doesn’t always mean they’ve signed him because that’s what they offered the player, there are sometimes negotiations to be had for whatever reason, some players might prefer a shorter contract, a longer contract, more money blah blah blah but in this situation imo I reckon he’s asked for a longer contract if it wasn’t already offered of course because he’s 31 and so many clubs might not touch him at 32 therefore this gives him security until he’s at least 33 maybe 34 if he keeps fit and that means such a lot to a footballer in his 30’s!

The released/retained list is out early next week so it will be interesting to see if any other of last seasons squad have signed up and if so for how long. Be great if Senior , J.J , Rawson , Tutonda among others were staying.

Don't understand why Moore and Edwards have signed new contracts unless they have been given some sort of assurances

I hope I'm right but I suspect Edwards and Moore signing new contracts indicates something is happening behind the scenes. Lets hope so.

I think some need to get a grip.
Nothing has come from the club so nothing has changed.
The EFL has given the okay to some contracts we sent them ages ago, that is all.
Club still fooked, the board playing brinkmenship ship with Jason.

Administration by the middle of week.

What has come from the club is the information that we have re-signed 2 key players. If you read Stu's comments he is really happy to have signed and can't wait to get back to playing. Would he be saying that if we were nearing oblivion? The words were not said when the contracts went to the EFL but since the end of the season. It doesn't make sense.

I hope I’m right but Edwards and Moore signing and the complete silence of the board make me think something is happening behind the scenes. Fingers crossed!

Should know more tomorrow or Tuesday. The released/retained list has to be published and if some more of our better players have signed up , maybe on more than 1 year deals then it would suggest that something is happening.

Dave Salmon has mentioned on twitter that the retained/released list is not likely to have any more surprises which is a bit ominous for those of us hoping to see Senior , JJ , Rawson , Jacob etc etc :(

Feels like we're pushing this retained list to the last minute. Optimistically I wonder if that's because something positive is happening behind the scenes. If not, you'd think we'd just get it out sharpish.

Leaving it as long as possible in the hope of getting a manager in before releasing it?

So how did that work out then?

From what I've read the list should have been with the EFL by 3rd Sat of May (except for those clubs involved in play offs). Not something else we're late in doing
