Has any manager ever quit on a team 3 times in the past ? D.A. being given exactly the chance to do that. Could get in the record books. Unless the BofD does not include a get out clause this time round.

My interpretation of a “rolling contract” is that he's here on a month-to-month basis (perhaps bi-monthly) so he can leave quite easily if he wanted to.

Being an optimist, I'd hope that this is to get Derek through the door and assembling a squad, with a view to a sale of the club going ahead. If completed, and money that he'll have been promised materialises, he'll sign a longer contract. If the sale falls through, he can walk away easily enough.

Given how much we've raised in 'transfer fees' for managers, I think we'll definitely have another 'get out' clause in any long term manager's contract!

Darren Ferguson at Peterborough springs to mind. Hard to imagine him elsewhere now so maybe the same will be same of Derek as time goes on?

What happens if his American friends don't buy the club will be leave.

Also if they do buy it how would they ever sack him if the time came.

You're right, things could still go horribly wrong here. As far as your second question goes...Morecambe sack Derek Adams ...wash you mouth out

The first 40 minutes of tonight's sports hour on Radio Lancashire discussed all things Morecambe, including interviews with Quinny, Rod and John O'Sullivan of all people! The hour ended with news that an interview with Derek will feature on Wednesday's programme.

My interpretation of a 1 year rolling contract is that at any time from now on there is always deemed to be 1 year remaining on the contract and that if either party wishes to end that contract then that 1 remaining year has to be negotiated/paid up. I could be wrong though

If you watch James Wakefield on beyond radio he says lengths of contracts means nothing it's the compensation clause in them that matters. You could have a 5 year deal but if the compensation clause is met it doesn't matter how long the contract is.

Interesting the connection with Derek and the American bidders. Remember him being quite positive about a long term plan a while back and a hint that he was even helping with a potential sale. Perhaps he spat his dummy out last November when Jason rejected this offer and this made him leave. Fast forward six months and he's back at the ground with the directors and they start working with him to make the deal go through. If Jason is now seriously considering this offer, Derek knows he needs to take a punt now to get a team together to hold its own in L2 and then perhaps some investment further down the line.

I wonder if Greg Strong will return to the backroom team now The King is back. He was behind so many of our best recruits and loans.

It's notable that Derek doesn't directly mention the owners in the short statement on the official club site.
He just says he's happy to work with the Board of Directors and that he's "a manager who knows the football club and how it works".
That certainly sounds as though he'll be keeping himself at least an arms length from that clown Jason.
Let's hope that continues as long as possible. Derek does seem to be more than capable of pulling together an efficient and committed team on a shoestring budget. And his favoured tactics of ensuring one point before pushing for three might not be the most attractive, but do tend to lift us towards the promotion places - which I don't think anyone can complain about.
Here's hoping Derek can stay and concentrate on the team. While Jason concentrates on getting his sorry arse out of the club.

I hope Greg is in Derek and The Board's thoughts moving forward. He did a terrific job for us, quietly beavering away in the background.
More of the same please Greg.

Greg's not coming back by the sound of it.

Expect a new assistant manager to be announced over the next couple of weeks.

Yes , Derek said Greg is at Ross County and John won't be coming back.

It was great to hear the King in one of his full length interviews again. We haven't had a manager who can hold court like him.

Looking forward to hearing him do his Taggart impression in the season when we beat someone "There's been a murder" !!

Great, uplifting interview from Derek. Only disappointment is that the Americans who were interested in Derek's last session are no longer in the mix, otherwise a great boost for all our fans. :D :D

Obviously things can still go wrong ownership wise so the Trust emergency fund is still important either now or in the future. We've had too many ownership problems in the past to be complacent now so I would urge anyone who can but hasn't yet donated to do so now. :)

DA back, I liked his interview and here’s hoping he works his magic again.

The overall cost of wages for all staff at the Club in 2022-23 was £3,662,196. 215 staff

The budget for the coming season you would think will reflect the increase in wages and running cost since then.

So the agreed budget for 2024-25 (two seasons later) has been set by JW and that Derek Adam’s has to work to for the player he has to recruit. I think it will be another skeleton squad. That’s fine it’s DA putting it together we all know what he is capable of doing.

The thing that worries me is I’m just hoping JW has set a budget that he can provide without defaulting again for the rest of the time he is our owner, especially if he is still her after Christmas.

If he finally goes let’s hope whoever comes in can offer DA more funding.
