This is fantastic, an absolutely fantastic response to the fund raiser, in less than a week.

With that in mind I have just add another contribution. If we keep on raising the roof, I will contribute again, no doubt. I’m blown away by the generosity, it shows what can be achieved.

I will give what I can afford to help reach the target, it might not be a lot but if every one does it WE WILL GET TO IT.

A great effort by The Shrimps Trust and everyone who has contributed.

Well said Billy. Stronger together and together we can do this!

Is there a time limit on this fundraiser ? I admit I personally don't do digital, I prefer to donate cash. With that in mind, could the trust have a donations box in J.B's on match days. That way anyone like me can fly in an and put a quid or two in every home game.

Good idea, carry on collecting money on match days.

So… speaking on more positive lines, what will this money be used for in the event that a sale goes through and our troubles are over? There must be more in the Trusts kitty than there ever has been before so hopefully a few projects could now be pursued? (Accepting that £26k isn’t enough to change the world).

You can’t seriously expect a reply to that question. We are not out of the woods by no means yet so let’s wait until we are, if we ever are. Some people get carried away far too easily plus the fund raiser fully explains the ifs, buts and maybes

Exactly Nobby. As I have said on another thread Morecambe fans have been stressed enough over the years in the EFL so even if JW sells to a good owner there should never be complacent. A Trust emergency fund should be retained so that if trouble comes our way again at least we will have some money for such eventuality.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expect an answer to that question. If the answer is ‘we are saving the money indefinitely as a hedge against future problems’ then fine but that should be clarified.

Everything is explained on the gofund.me page...
It will be the Trust members that have the final say on what happens to that money.

Absolutely and I'm sure the Trust will clarify once a) the donations are complete and b) the immediate ownership problems are resolved. Until then I can't see how they can answer your questions as they don't know themselves how the present problems will play out.

Community Sports would easily get grants for this sort of thing but unfortunately Tyson has the final say on it.

Unless he is thinking of doing a deal with the caravan site guy next door then they have no real value and does Tyson need the money ! I wonder if the football club have actually approached Tyson to see how he feels about this unused land that could be used by the youth to train on.

If the Trust were to buy it and run it is a business, it would provide an income which could help the Trust turn in to a real force for good. It has no value to Tyson and his plans for a foundation seem to have been short lived.

Don't quote me on this but I seem to remember when Janet was in charge of community Sports they had funds through grants and things to get the pitches and gym back when it went to auction.
Tyson came unexpected and blew everyone away.
I'm sure it went for about 300k

The Fund Donations seem to have dried up to a trickle.

I suppose if people think the sale is imminent they won't chip in which is a shame as a decent sum would be useful for any future emergencies.

Absolutely right GS. I find it a bit disheartening. You would think that after everything we've been through over the past years our fans would realise that it could easily happen again. People believe what they want to believe and with a possible sale in sight everything is going to be fine from now on!!! We should hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

I wonder if the money would start coming in again if Sarbjot is the new owner? I hope the Trust will at least retain most of the money raised now as a fighting fund otherwise we'd have to start again from scratch.

When fund raising the message must be kept being repeated, repeated, repeated. The reasons for this fundraiser is in the end for Morecambe FC and that is the message that must continually be pushed. It’s for Morecambe FC however the money is used. Lots of fans don’t know about it and they need to hear the message. I hope the Shrimps Trust Keep going, look we are over half way to the target, keep going.

In broad terms, a board of directors of a Club is set up by the shareholders of the Club to implement strategies, hiring staff, agreeing budgets amongst their duties beholding to them to run the Club. So in essence you don’t need to buy a place on the board other than major shareholder or holders. It about having competent people in place who can run the club properly, or in some cases how the owners want the BOD’s to run it.

Morecambe FC have been fortunate that their board of directors know the Club inside out and run it to a high standard considering the financial restrictions they have too work under and other sues that have plagued the Club.

Could the Shrimps Trust be an asset if they had a seat on the board? I think it could be but first of all the Trust must grow and f they can bring not just monies to the club but also the trust and support of the fans.

If on the BOD’s it has to be a strong voice at the table and not just a facade, politically motivated gimmick.

A long time ago , probably in the Northern Premier League days , if you bought £5,000 of shares it entitled a person to a place on the board. Will be much different in the current era !

I will wait to make a donation. I can see lots of folk have made token donations of £5 or £10 but if Sarbjot takes over or administration happens I would donate as much as possible. I suspect many others are following the situation closely also and would do the same if things deteriorate
