Pre Season friendlies

Pre Season friendlies

Postby Gone_Shrimping » Sun Jun 09, 2024 11:54 am

Found on the other opposition websites and Twitters. We seem to keep them secret !

Saturday 13 July at 15-00 Longridge Town (away)

Tuesday 16 July at 19-45 Burscough (away)

Tuesday 16 July Barnoldswick Town (away) presumably an academy/fringe side with it
being on the same night as Burscough.

If anyone sees any other friendlies being arranged please edit and put on here.

My very first match watching Morecambe (somewhere around 1954) was against Burscough. Don't ask me the score though!!

I know we currently don't even have a squad but those games are poor tests. I get preseason is a mixed bag of opposition but that's a real odd list. Good for the smaller teams but I mean, come on!

Give the guy a chance he's only been in the job just over a week. Better inmy opinion to use pre season games to build up to the season. Do u really want to start with PNEs first team as an example ???

We always start with lower tier teams just to get some running and fitness etc and then in the last 2 weeks we play teams who are above us in the pecking order with the Saturday before the season starts giving us a good idea of how the team will look.

For the first few pre season games it gives the new lads time together to know their new team mates and how as a unit they can play together They most certainly don't want to play opposition miles better than us for starters. So the games already arranged are ideal preparation for what is to come.

Looking forward to the Southport away pre season game. Good to renew our association with Jimbo.

Kendal first up will be like a home game for me and an ideal opener to see the new lads and a few of the promising youngsters.

Good pre season build up in the selection.

The game to be arranged for the 3rd Aug I hope will be against PNE, I have enjoyed the pre season friendly games with Preston in the past.

I’m hoping DA is identifying a good group who can make a start to the season like last years. Cross fingers!

I'd be surprised if the Kendal game actually goes ahead. We gave around 5 weeks notice of our pre season schedule last year and failed to raise a team in that time for the first game, this year it's only 3 weeks and we have 1 less player.

Why do we never play Lancaster at Giant Axe?

I think Workington is 20th July. 3rd August should be a home fixture.

Maybe with Derek's influence in Scotland he could arrange a friendly against them.........
To give Morecambe a boost and prove himself right about the quality of Scottish football.

Our website shows 19:30, so at least we shouldn't miss kick off!

Possibly another money saving exercise so they don’t have to pay stewards and staff !!!
