Pre-Season

Pre-Season

Why, oh why, oh why...

Why don't we have the first couple of games in the Bristol Street Motors, Paint Pot, Leyland Daff Thingy Trophy played pre-season? Attendances would be reasonable, as fans want to see their new teams and have missed competitive games.

Which will get more paying fans, Morecambe v Notts Forest U21's on a Tuesday night in October, or Saturday 3rd of August?

It also then frees up some Tuesday evenings early[ish] in the season, when there is better weather. For example, Bradford City mid-week at the end of January, could be moved to the first week in October.

So how did that work out then?

Good shout Keith.... :o

However I suspect it is because many clubs are away on overseas pre season training camps and also the clubs want to be competitive for the games which could mean them returning from the close season at least 2 if not 3 weeks earlier than normal to be 85% match fit.

The close season is a much needed time for players to recharge their batteries so by reducing the close season time could see some players have injuries carried forward from the last season without the necessary recuperation period....
