Matthew Blinkhorn - 8 goals in 12 games whilst on loan.

Sadly then 10 in 52 after we actually spent some money and signed him. :D

Justin Jackson when he came back from Notts County. His goals kept us in the Conference that year.

Ryan McGivern looked far too good when Sammy brought him in.

Talking about loan players I heard a rumour last night we are close to a couple of loan signings

Not sure of positions but 1 rumoured to be a centre half

May not be the popular choice but for me it's a certain Cole Stockton followed closely by Michael Mellon

Good topic this! Probably Joe Lewis, Adam Phillips and Michael Mellon for me. Lots of great options though. It's a real shame Kieran Phillips's loan got cut short by injury as he could have been well up there.

I'm not bothered about getting another striker. Having a great striker won't make a bit of difference if we can't create chances. Even if we'd had Michael Mellon up top for our opening two games, I still don't think we'd have scored.

In Hope and Angol, we've got a couple of physical centre forwards who can put themselves about and create a bit of space for attacking midfielders. Think we need to focus our budget on getting more options in those attacking midfield areas to use that space to score/offer something creative, rather than on a fifth player who can play CF (Hope, Angol, Slew and Brown the other four) with little service.

I still think we'd have won the league had we kept Adam Phillips for the full season during his first loan spell.

Darren Kempson looked a class above but Sammy didn't seem to rate him.

Blinkhorn was class whilst on loan.

Justin Jackson, 1998 (from Notts County.)

Had great pace and was a good finisher, would later come back and have a prolific goalscoring season when we had a 3rd place finish.

For me it's Joe Lewis. Absolute quality who went on to be involved in the England set up. Callum Lang was decent as well.
