Transfer deadline PLUS Compensation update

Transfer deadline PLUS Compensation update

Postby redrobo » Thu Aug 29, 2024 10:21 am

With less than 48 hours to go before the transfer deadline kicks in let's hope that the money for JJ has / will be sorted to allow DA to delve into the loan market for a loan striker....otherwise our current problem of lack of goals could continue......

A striker is no good if we can't create chances. We need a bit more in attacking midfield to create, and get some goals themselves too. Derek's pretty big on goals coming from all over, and I'm hoping Angol will be able to offer a bit more up front once he's up to speed (should hopefully be soon).

I like a lot of what Hope does in terms of trying to hold the ball up, bring others into play, run the channels and stretch the defence, but his drop-off in pace and physicality is alarming and ultimately pretty detrimental. Don't mind him as a squad player but I expect Derek's plan is to go with Angol long term. That said, I think Derek's used Angol on the wing before at Bradford, so maybe he may look to do that again and still bring in another striker?

Unfortunately I have to agree.

Problem with a tribunal is that there appears to be no time limit put on any transaction with some taking over 12 months to resolve. About time those in power put a max time limit of say 6 months on a transaction to be completed.

So it's just gone 2pm and many of us I assume are wondering if we are in the market for at least one loanee.... :?: :?: :?:

Have got to say that I very much doubt it as DA will probably be short of a bob or two BUT you never know; maybe money for JJ has been agreed OR has Jason loaned us some more pennies at a huge interest rate.

Here's hoping that DA can bring somebody in to improve our goal tally to date....BUT I for one am not expecting a miracle.......

Personally, I think it's season over and nailed on relegation if DA can't bring in a couple of decent goal scorers (striker or attacking midfielders) today.

I just can't see where goals will come from between now and January otherwise. Yes, no doubt, a few players will get the odd one or two, but can't see any single player getting more than 5, so we're going to be looking for 0-0 draws at best really to get the odd point here and there.

At least defence looks strong.

Even with a huge influx of cash to spend in January if the sale goes through and we finally get a committed owner who wants to support the club (rather than leech off it), it'll be a tall order to get decent players in and scoring for the last 2/3 months of the season to clear us from the relegation zone.

I know that all sounds pessimistic and I hope I'm wrong, but in all these years of supporting Morecambe, I've never been so pessimistic and the first few games of the season don't fill me with any confidence at all. Like I say, hope I'm wrong.

I presume Marcus won’t be in todays squad so before the moaners start doing what they do best without knowing any information, the registration of new players cut off was mid day yesterday to be able to play today, if he’s in the squad then it was done before then and if not then you know why.
