At last a new General Manager Rob Smith, formally of Fleetwood Town. Responsible for the day to day running and growth of the Club!!

Let’s hope he good at it. First thing on his agenda must be to drive through the sale of the Club.

Welcome and a much needed additions but I'm surprised that we can afford one at the momentunless, some of the prize money from cup competitions is going to towards the cost reducing the money available for new players come January.

Of course it could well be a case of speculate to accumulate or do the BoDs have an inkling that a sale is imminent and that their will be a need for a GM.

Been in the works for a while this one so I don't think it's any indication of any movement on the ownership front.

He was hired around the same time that Ben Sadler left but has just finished his 3 month notice period at Fleetwood so can start now. Explains why communication in the last few months has been a bit below standard but that should pick up now.

Hope he can hit the ground running to continue the excellent work of Ben Sadler and our marketing manager to improve the "non football" income streams from the suite, bar, boxes, on non playing days and the sponsorship deals plus improved finances from improvement of match day facilities. That's where the future lies if we are ever going to be able to say we're "self sustainable" which has been the aim for around 15 years and the stated aims of numerous business plans issued by the Board. Lots of work to do!

Appears a good move on our part but I just don’t understand the move from his position or is Fleetwood really that bad to work for? At this present time we are doomed and heading out of the EFL and let’s be honest it’ll take a bloody miracle to keep us up but I suppose 3 months ago when he handed in his notice we weren’t as bad as we appear now. Then again he’s worked his way up from coach at Fleetwood and possibly he needs to move on to further his career as it’s not always good staying in the same place but ???

It may be a very astute move on his part. For years Fleetwood have been funded by the convicted crook Andy Pilley who is now serving 13 years at his Majesty's pleasure for his dishonest dealings. It is said he put over £22,000,000 into the football club during his tenure! His company BES have rebranded to Ruby energy and I believe are now being run by his son. All well and good but it's not that easy to just walk away from the misery they caused many people over the years. It's all over the internet about what Pilley and his cronies did and the fact his families company have rebranded to Ruby energy. So folk will make up their own minds whether to trust them as energy suppliers. I guess all this has affected trade down the coast and it must be debatable whether FTFC will receive the same substantial support from Ruby energy as they did from BES.
I also heard an incredible story from an ex FTFC physio about goings on at their training ground prior to Pilley getting sent down. Couldn't possibly repeat it on here though. :? Ask Rob he might tell you.

Son in Law,works as a Risk Assessment Manager in the energy business handling some of the biggest pic's in the country. He knows the re branded former Pilley company and the sector is full of rumour about the goings on at Fleetwood both prior and post the changes. Not a company that has a good reputation in the market place .
