Andy Mangan was on pre-season trainig with us, but left before been given a chance on the pitch. Morrison has already joined somebody else (not sure who). Constable, Griffin and the others ..... :?: :?: :?:

i think people refer to signing a striker capable of getting 20-goals a season

all be it you do need to supply them, thats why i always harp on about a left wing crosser of the ball on these forums, as we now have M Duffy with what I've seen of, as pace and can beat defenders and cross early balls across the goal mouth

Well it wont be any of the top 3 and hell would freeze over before we could sign a FGR player so that narrows it down somewhat.

I think some people under estimate how hard it must be for Sammy and Mark to entice players to come to Morecambe. Its hardly a club on players wish lists. And before I go on any further James Constable has recently signed at Oxford, where he was on loan. The Shrews (round the corner from me) have just signed Jake Robinson who was recently released by Brighton. He is a good young experienced striker and should partner Holt up front. Shrews paid nothing! What they have is a good stadium, fan base and the prospects of promotion. This Robinson liked. They can also match his wage demands because of overall revenue. How can we match that? We can't (yet) match the stadium, fan base or revenue and so the best we can hope for is to pay a transfer fee for someone under contract but on less wages because of our smaller (income) revenue. What I think Sammy should be doing now (and he may already be doing so) is using the new stadium as a way to attract players who he may sign on a 12mth+ contract because nowadays the majority of players want/need good training facilities and a good atmosphere at home games. Have faith in Sammy, I have.

Morison has gone to millwall , whereas this "20 goal striker" actually scored 12 last season

Wouldn't suprise me if we say the return of O'Carroll. ;) ;) ;)

How about Paul Benson ?

I think he may be out of contract and is over 23 years of age.

I'd personaly be quite happy with a smattering of free transfers in a couple of weeks. It's all a bit hit and miss anyway. Happy to trust Sammy and the board and get behind whoever they sign, whether I've heard of them or not

This just confirms how difficult a job Sammy has in either affording or persuading players to come to Morecambe. I must admit i was surprised that we had that much money to spend in the first place.

Thats 2 strikers Bury have signed this week who will both expect to be in the starting eleven.

Add them to Bishop , Morrell (who has 2 years on his contract) and Phil Jevons (if he made his loan move permanent)

You would think they would be letting one striker go. I don't want Morrell or Jevons but you don't think we could go for .................. do you ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Bury seem to be building a good team there Knill has done a fantastic job in a short space of time.

I expect Rotherham & Bury to get automatic promotion this season.

Most certainly has.

He's targeted who he's wanted and gone out and got them. However I also suspect that he's got more money to play with than Sammy and that makes life a bit easier. Also geographically they have an advantage.

I'm sure that we'll have some good news re:signings in the very near future. Maybe not Sammy's first choice(s) but still capable of doing an excellent job for our team.

Mark Duffy ;)

We need at least one striker who has a proven record at this level if we are to move forward next season. It is an area that we lacked last season.

other possible striking targets

Billy Clarke (and he's Irish)
Scott Rendell
Pavel Abbot (not very likely. probably going to Oldham with Penny)
Gareth Evans (Macclesfield)
Paul Mullin (a bit too long in the tooth)
Michael Boulding (problem being brother Rory comes with him as a package)
Keigan Parker
Ian Craney

Not sure :?:

Another transfer-listed striker, Rene Howe, has had a lucrative offer to move to a League One club according to Fry, but has not taken it up.

Fry added: "We gave Rene permission to speak to the club.
