Fixtures out - Please don't list them on this board

Postby sgt major » Wed Jun 17, 2009 7:58 am

Probably been said before but dont make any lists of fixtures on this board. It's illegal and I'm sure Glen at the Visitor will have it all in hand anyway.

Apparently you can discuss them but not type a full list.

Wheres the best place to get the fixtures as soon as there released and are they released at 10 or 10:30 as on the Liverpool site they say the fixtures are out at 10?

Just got the club text alert! A whole 5 minutes before the full list produced. Home on both first and last days of season. 8-)

http://www.thevisitor.co.uk/morecambe-sport/BREAKING-NEWS-Fixtures-out-for.5373201.jp

As we have done - if people commenting on the fixtures could please just link to the official site and NOT reproduce the fixtures on this board it will help save Shrimpsvoices from receiving solicitors' letters and the prospect of a very big fine.

The fixture lists are licensed to one company who act on behalf of the League. They pay the League for that and then get money from media groups wanting to reproduce them.

It costs quite a bit of money and they are subject to very strict copyright laws.

The Visitor has paid to reproduce them in the paper but I've chosen this season not to pay to publish them online. We will keep a link on The Visitor site to the list on the official MFC website, so will drive traffic through to the club site, which they're happy with.

You can comment about any fixtures, quoting dates etc but you can't reproduce lists, either week by week (for which a separate fee is required) or for a full season.

As an aside - there are also fees that need to be paid for putting match reports online. You're not allowed to put minute-by-minute reports (updating as you go along) unless you pay a big fee. That's why we do a 'team-news' story first, then a half-time report, then full time. To do any more costs a lot of money.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!

A few things stand out for me.

1. We're the first team to visit Burton Albion in the Football League. Surely we should 'do a Barnet'!!! I reckon its only right and proper.

2. Accy at home on Boxing Day. A proper boost for our gates.

3. And most importantly, our last ever game at Christie Park is the final game of the season. Thanks. Aldershot Town don't know what they're in for.

Even better before Aldershot at home, Shrewsbury, Away - not too far for our beleagured traveling fans to travel this season for the last away game of the season

That stood out for me straight away. It will be great to sample the first game atmosphere again, but from the perspective that Barnet enjoyed. Form my point of view what the Barnet fans did made our first FL game extra special, and we should definitely look at similar gestures, if only to rediscover/reaffirm the friendly fans tag.

Brilliant well chuffed with Shots at home last game of the season.

I was hoping for one of our conference friends for the last game Shots, Hereford or Barnet.

The midweek games are good although not many of them Darlo & Bradford away Bury at home shame about Barnet but one bad fixture is good going.

agreed, i wonder if that banner is avaiable to beg/borrow/buy/steal? [assuming it didn't have anything barnet specific on it, which i don't think it did]

Fully agree with Posh and RedRedWine about the Burton game.

I know how the message from the Barnet fans was received by us and has remained in our minds.

Would be great if we could do the same for our former Conference friends.

I'll get prices, see how they work out and then get a whip round sorted if they're OK.

Sky Sports News just been at the Pirelli, interviewing Paul Peschisolido, his assistant Gary Rowett and defender Ryan Austin, discussing the fixtures. The reporter's last word was to mention their first home match, against us on 15th August, saying it should be quite a party!!!
