just found this about him, on the "this is anfield" website

18 year old striker Craig Lindfield is a product of the LFC Academy widely tipped to be the next Robbie Fowler. Craig played an integral role in the FA Youth Cup winning side of 2006 scoring 7 goals throughout the competition.

As a result of his good form in summer 2006 he was promoted from the Academy and given the chance train and play with the first team for the friendly against Crewe. He took his chance well scoring the only goal of the game with a great left foot finish into the top corner, set up by child hood hero Robbie Fowler.

Craig again carried his goal scoring form into the 2006-07 Youth Cup, being an important member of the team that again reached the final. He scored 3 goals in the semi final against Newcastle, including 2 at the Kop end. Craig also went on to score the first goal of the first leg of the final against Manchester United which unfortunately ended in a 2-1 loss, with the 2nd leg yet to be played.

In the 2007-08 season Craig will no longer be eligible for the under 18’s squad and therefore is expected to feature in the reserves, with hopefully more first team action. With a history of players such as Michael Owen and Jamie Carragher coming out of Youth Cup winning teams, Craig Lindfield is definitely a possible future star for Liverpool.

we could get him on loan with a view to a permanent deal, that could be one way round it, unless theres a limit with loan players as we have 3 already :? ?

You can't loan a free agent.

I think that if a player became a free agent before a certain date, they can be signed at any time but after the date they have to wait until the transfer window opens, so Sol Campbell for example, can't sign anywhere until January but a player released at the end of last season could still sign. So if I'm recalling correctly, it depends upon when he was released.

He was on trial Carlisle at that time and played for their reserves against our reserves, he was pretty impressive for them.

hes at Liverpool though so not much chance in him getting any first team apperances with them and only been on loan with other clubs and not stayed with any longer than his loan spell

 Lets see - Curtis never played in the league until he was 27, Mullins 32.
At a similar age Jevons had scored 8 in 36, Twiss 3 in 42. Aaron Taylor 4 in 23 to date.
Don't think we can judge him on sporadic loan spells.
Based on the age of the forwards some youth may be a refreshing change!

Released from Liverpool by mutual consent. Sky Sports say we are giving him a chance to impress:

I wonder if our new physio recommended him to Sammy as he probably knows quite a bit about him from his days as part of the medical staff at 'pool?
