Watching the Daggers game live on Sky

Postby Crazeenick » Tue May 11, 2010 1:37 am

Might not be able to make it to Daggers :(

May have to settle for watching the match live on Sky TV in a pub.

Will JB's bar be open to show the match?

Otherwise - does anyone have any suggestions as to best pubs to watch the match in?

- I was thinking York Hotel or Dog & Partridge (Bare)??

Lots of people in the same situation - me included.

Needless to say there will be a good atmosphere in the York and the Dog for that matter - make your choice. We are going to serve up some footie nibbles on the day, then you can stay and watch Oxford v York to see who goes in league 2 (not that we will be playing them eh ;) )

it depends if you want a atmosphere or you actually want to watch a game of football and take in how the team plays together

the thing i find at times when i go to a busy pub to watch a game of football, am one of those who ends up talking all the way through it and miss it

so i tend to go somewhere quiet to watch a game nowadays, ive found the kings arms whats a big size pub with loads of room but it only really gets busy at night time. as shit loads of good quality giant size multi screens all-over and even more upstair where you can easily find seats for a select group of friends

Or.... you could go to a REAL pub with REAL Ale REAL decent people and good craic - or you could buy sky sports and sit on your own setee - the choice is yours.

We are going to have bowls of chips and other nibbles out for the supporters who like me can't make it on Sunday - we will also be announcing our World Cup promotions on the day.

Mr Jones - what is wrong in letting fans who cant get to the game know whats going on at a venue that is showing it. The York is as much a part of the pre-match build up for both home and away fans and it goes a long way to keeping a calm atmosphere between both sets of fans.

Long before I took the place on I was advertising it in the pages of the fanzine - Gazzetta de la Shrimp and getting away fans to visit it when I traveled all over the country supporting the team.

Until the Mods or the club ask me not to advertise events I most certainly will not stop.

Can anyone on here help - I'm not going to be able to get to either of the playoff games as I'm in Canada (i'm back for the final though, nudge nudge, wink wink!) but does anyone know what chanel, if any, will I be able to watch it on over there? - does Sky broadcast over there under its' own name - or is is something like Fox sports?

Cheers

I think Setanta in Canada might broadcast live Sky games. Other than that, perhaps Google "Sky football in Canada" or something like that. It brings up a host of sites which might be more familiar to you than I. Some sites show a list of games shown in a country and which broadcaster carries them. I think some might be pay per view or subscription only though.

Edit: Done it for you: Scroll down and you'll see when it's on and what channel.

As long as it is done within moderation, then it is acceptable. We've had people advertising businesses that have no connection to Morecambe FC other than it's a supporter who has the business.

On the flip side, we aren't Citizen's Advice or Trading Standards, so when someone's first ever post is to complain about the service in a pub, they are already on shaky ground.

There's plenty of information here, so I reckon the original question is answered. So that Mick doesn't feel cheated of a response, I've been in the York many times, enjoyed a warm welcome, good craic and decent food without any reason for complaint.

So how did that work out then?
