Team v Daggers

Team v Daggers

Postby Vinny » Sun Aug 24, 2008 10:27 am

I'm another who doesn't usually like these 'my team' topics as we don't know injury/fitness problems, but having seen most games so far this season, if I were selecting the team for Sat it'd be:

..........................Davies

Parrish ....... McStay .......Jimbo .......Howard

Wainwright ....Hunter .......Stanners ......Curtis

................... Blinks .......Howe

with O'Carroll, Drummie, Yatesy, Artell and Roche on the bench, with the full intention of at least bringing O'Carroll on for Blinks for the last 30mins and using Drummie and Yatesy(depending how the game pans out of course).

He's got my vote for PotS for last year, but I think Danny Adams needs to have some serious time with the Sports Scientist Dan Birdsall to get a couple of inches off his waist and he might return to last years form.

Never got to the game yesterday but it seems it was a better performance than the Rotherham game ( could not of been worse IMO ), but lets hope the disagreements between some players and management can be aired out this week and we can pick up our first league win since MARCH. If all players are available i think i would go with the following team and formation.

Roche

Parrish Artell Bentley (c) Howard

Drummond

Wainwright Stanley

Curtis

Blinkhorn Howe

The reason for the formation is so that Drummond can use his experience to not only spread the ball better but give the defence a bit of needed support which is also the reason for Michael Howard to get his much awaited chance to prove his future may still lie at Christie Park. We have to try something a little different and maybe this could work

Jody was quite right in her assessment of McCann yesterday and for me he should be included in the starting line up along with Drummy just in front of the back 4.

I'd include O'Carroll in preference to Blinks (sorry Jody ;) ) for the simple reason that i feel we need to try something different.

Having not been at the Bury game I can't comment on that performance but, it appears to me from the reports i have read and my own observations from the Rotherham and Forest games that the biggest problems at the moment is that Sammy is picking players to play a system when he should be playing a system that suits the players we have. Also what is with the reluctance to make subs - surely that is the one clear way the gaffer can influence a game once the players cross the white line.

my team for the Daggenham game

(4-4-1-1)

Roche
Yates (RB) Mc Stay Bentley Howard (LB)

Wainright Mc Cann Drummond Curtis

Twiss (still the most creative player at the club)

Howe

subs O'Carroll (to be brought on for twiss (1 hour), Carr, Artell, Davies, Hunter

Away from home for me we should play 3-5-2

Roche
Artell Bentley Parrish

Wainright Drummond Mc Cann Stanley Howard (so we can easily switch 4-4-2)

Twiss Howe

Subs Davies, O'carroll, Fraser, Yates, Carr

Curtis is widely suggested to have been our best player yesterday and probably in all the games played so far and you wouldn't even have him on the bench? Who'd be a football manager???

------------------ Roche -------------------

Parrish ----- Artell ----- Bentley ----- Adams

Wainwright --- McCann --- Hunter --- Curtis

------------- Blinkhorn --- Howe -----------

McStay and Carr both had poor games yesterday in my opinion so they lose their places to Parrish and Hunter who I thought were unlucky to be dropped. Everyone else was alright so no need to change it.

Would like to see O'Carroll get a good 30 minutes though and then play the full game against Oldham.

Roche

Parrish Artell Bentley Howard

Wainwright Stanley McCann new player/Curtis

Twiss

Howe

subs Davies Drummond O'Carroll Blinkhorn McStay

I think Twiss and Stanners would go out and show what they can do given the chance and a
3-0 win to the Shrimps

The team I expect Sammy to field is :-

Roche

McStay Artell Bentley Adams

Wainwright McCann Carr Curtis

Howe O'Carroll

subs Davies Blinkhorn Hunter Drummond Parrish

roche
parrich artell bentley howard

wainwright stanley drummond curtis

o'carroll howe

subs davies yates huter twiss

must give o'carroll a chance and bring back stanley and drummond for experience in midfield.parrich and wainwright down the right and howard and curtis down the left.a good strong backbone to the team with pace down both wings. sammy must bring subs on earlier when things. are not going well.

i've alreay said on another thread that you wouldn't really want me picking the side. But their premise was that everyone disagreed with Sammy. as this is only a bit of a lark I'll give it a go as follows:

....................Roche

........Parrish Artell bentley Howard

...............McLachlan Stanley

..........Wainwright Drummond Hunter

.........................Howe
