THE BIG TRANSFER THREAD: errupted more than Eyjafjallajökull

Postby Christies Child » Sun May 23, 2010 8:49 am

Rather than have random posts dotted all over SVs, let's put all rumours, speculation and comments about actual signings posted under this one header.

Certainly going to make life easier for some.... ;)

NB: The title of this thread has been altered several times. The moderators (or rather Posh 'cause it was his fault) apologise to all for the strange posts at various times in this thread and to Christies Child for any questioning of his credibility, sagacity or headline writing skills.

Please get your transfer rumours out here whether they be true, implausible or ridiculous in a Dean Howell rejoining level of ludicrousness.

Does that include suggestions for possible signings too? If so, your Billy Kee thread has just contradicted what you said above....

Billy Kee thread posted before this thread was suggested. However YES.
Maybe I should transfer Kee to here.

I think 1 thread for transfer speculation is a good idea.

I agree. Loads of other clubs' messageboards have a single thread for transfer speculation.

I'll throw one in the ring, and I'm stunned he's not been mentioned before, but Andy Bond of Barrow. 24 year-old very highly regarded midfielder and been watched by, amongst others, PNE and Carlisle. I expect him to sign for the latter but one I would hope we would have watched.

Another is Tim Deasy from Barrow, who I think will attract interest from League 2 clubs. Decent keeper who didn't get to prove himself at Macc or Stockport but has been good between the sticks for Barrow.

I think you may be wrong.

Southport have a threead for "news of former Southport players" and it never slips far down the page before news of a former player bumps it back up.

Who has decided to change the title of this thread?

It would have been nice to have been asked before hand without one of the mods taking it upon themselves to change it.

This is the second time in two days that a change has been made to a post of mine. Neither of which have been offensive or abusive!

It was me. I changed because I wanted to make sure that everyone realised, as you requested, that it was the main and hopefully only thread regarding transfers. OK I injected a bit of humour but check out Portchat. Your original title was the usual ambiguous one, e.g. A thread on say 'no seats left in the Main Stand', would have a title 'a funny thing happened on the way to Arnside'.

Interestingly logic by the way that he/she who opens the thread owns the thread. Perhaps explains why so many new ones get opened.

P.S. I love when you get angry.

Can't change the thread title, it says so!

As thread owner, I think CC can change the title by editing his first post... probably! 8-)

Re: Don't Change the Tittle "Close season transfer thread" Threa

Can someone at least correct the spelling??? I would prefer:

'Please Refrain from Misspelling or Changing the Title of the "Close Season Transfer Thread" Thread'

....it has a ring to it! (Ever so slightly elongated, but hey!)
