THE BIG TRANSFER THREAD: errupted more than Eyjafjallajökull

I too am a big Arts fan.

Terrific leader , he captained us for the 7 wins on the trot (after Jim went off at Crewe) and 5 of those games were clean sheets so the defence was obviously ok.

Add his 9 goals (Rene Howe scored 11 inc penalties).

A big hole to fill.

Personally i liked Dave, was'nt very quick and did'nt distribute very accurately but his reading of the game, his valuable goalscoring and his leadership skills WILL be missed.

Anyway he's gone now so let's look forward.

True....but the current situation makes me wish that we still had him, despite my reservations of last season.

I'm man enough (and big enough ;) to admit that I might have been a bit harsh.

I didn't think letting Dave go was as huge as some people are making out. That's just personal opinion. In my eyes we have a replacement in Paul Scott who I believe should play centre back alongside Will Haining.

What I am worried about is that we seem to have lost our strength in depth. We let go a fair few players (quite rightly in my opinion), and now I think we need a few quality signings to push us forward (and bring us nearer to a 'full' squad). Hopefully they will come soon, as there isn't too long for them to gel in with their new team mates!

Maybe the Mccreedy signing will allow Scott to play a more defensive midfield role , which is what we were lacking last season. Just need that striker now ;)

trust you to make yourself at home! busy having a haircut no doubt

Velkopopovický Kozel

This beer may be familiar to those who frequent the Wetherspoons pub chain in the UK; the draught version is far superior to its bottled counterpart. Kozel is another one of the smaller breweries whose product is becoming harder to find on tap. The best option is The Black Ox (U Cerneho Vola) near Prague Castle. The pub is one of the oldest in Prague and is run by the Friends of Beer Party. All profits go to a nearby school for blind children.

I did'nt know the Czechs invented lager :o

Budweiser Budvar is the best Czech pop.
They've got their own beer hall in the centre of Prague, near the big Tesco.
Serves great draft BB, great Czech food, traditional music, and is a great night out for a reasonable price.

Ive been to the brewery near Prague Castle knee deep in snow , there is a bar attached to the brewery and the beer is beutiful , they also serve soup in bread which is shaped like a pumpkin and cut the top off , pour the soup in (yum yum). Great place for a long w/end Mark. ;) ;) ;)

I went to Prague a few months back it was brilliant there are a few brewery/pub/restraunt places some are more touristy than others, we found one where all the local people went to and it was brilliant (sorry I can't remb the name but it's just round the corner from the Bethlehem chapel) and they looked after us really well and it was reasonable.

I found a bottle of Kozel for 60p :D up at a tea hut at the old city walls which are about a 5 min tram ride south of the city.

anyway back to football we seem to have a lot of midefielders, Fleming, Scott, Drummound, Hunter, Stanley. Did I read Flemming is a bit of a defensive midfielder as well the same as Scott? Could this be a new look midfield with some of our favourites having to settle for a place on the bench?

Lets all go to Prague , lets all go to Prague , would make good friendly. ;)

Back to the football , maybe SM is going to have a rotating system like Rafa did at Liverpool. :o

I'm hoping one of these new lads can kick a dead ball. Stanners is the only option we have and he can do a good job from wide positions, but we have looked clueless at times with free kicks around the penalty area.

Now there's an idea :D

...just throwing that in there as a possibility!
It would see Jimbo, Drummy, Hunter, Mullin et al. on the bench, but not a bad prospect for another strong season...

Sounds like he just wants back-up for Roachey now and thats it. Not much of a strike force. :(

There's the young loanee from Huddersfield as well. And it depends if Sammy means (as Dave from the Bay suggests) 'another one very soon AS WELL AS getting a sub keeper' or whether the keeper's the 'other one'.

If we're close to getting Hendrie as well, I think that's a good squad - depending on if the new players do well, of course!
Is the glass half full or half empty? Mmmm? hard to say - but it does look like there's room for more beer!
