I hope the team all have their names on the back of their shirts at Wycombe.

The strike force that got nearly 30 goals between them
So where's the back -up, Mulin aint no spring chicken and if Jevons gets injured , then what. :?:
Spencer and, possibly, Hendrie? (or a loanee as emergency cover).

Last season we had decent cover for just about every position but a lot of players (on decent wages I'd guess) spent most of the time on the bench.

The budget may have been trimmed with the emphasis on the first 11, then a few eager young kids among those on the bench.

Yes I can imagine Sammy's mix & match tonight being a "guess who" particularly with 2 trialists and a deluge of rain on the way. maybe the Kendal P.A. will be more up to speed than at Barrow!

Good signings! Still need to sign a striker though, because
Jevons cant play the lone striker role, it's just not his style(not physical enough)

He'll more likely start with Mullin and Jevons, with Spencer and (we hope) 'someone else young, quick and eager to make an impression' putting pressure on their places.

What about Simpson? Is he still on trial with us? I always thought he was a good player when he was at Shrews

yeah absolutely(i was referring to the 4 5 1 formation posts) i think SM will know anyway after trying Jevons a couple of times in that role last season

and am looking forward to watching Spencer & Jevons together

I'm happy with a Jevo/Mullin strikeforce but we need one more striker to provide cover. Last season, both Jevons and Mullin were out injured at the same time for a short time. Could easily happen again next season.

...just throwing that in there as a possibility!
It would see Jimbo, Drummy, Hunter, Mullin et al. on the bench, but not a bad prospect for another strong season...

Sounds like someone might have a similar opinion on lineup 2 you'res!

Chris Simm (Southport) is on the bench this evening. Had an unsuccessful trial with Bradford and now landed with us. A few on here seem to have mentioned him in the past. Maybe the answer to the other striker we are looking for. Lets hope he is as good as the last two we have signed from them.

Missing an attacking midfield playmaker in my view. I can't think of a centre midfield player who regularly attacks the box that we've got in the squad. Craney looked the player but physically wasn't up to it.

I agree but can't see us bringing in anymore midfielders we already have five fighting for two places.

well Jake Simpson is reportedly a attack minded midfielder, i haven't seen him play yet, but he seems to get good promising feedback(winning the club's young player of the year award at shrewsbury )

Last season we arguably had six central mid and three wide players.

Indeed we did, but I thought the idea this year was to replace quantity with quality? Admittedly we've had limited success with that so far, but with the capture of Fleming, I can't see any further signings being of the midfield variety (unless we manage to get a loanee or two).
