Or the same day the Alhambra went up in flames as well as a tyre factory. Lots of rumours about arson but I don't remember anyone being charged.

they were on fire in June 1970 , round about the time England lost 3-2 to West Germany in the World Cup (at Leon in Mexico)

I think your wrong. The Alhambra building was owned by the Taylor Family (Richard then son Peter Graham)

I think Moby Dick was owned by the same person who owned the Ba Ba Gee floating restaurant at Glasson Dock.
but forgot his name.

God, I used to HATE trips to Glasson Dock as a child when my dad used to drag my sister and I there for "nice Walks". Hated walking over the lochs and around all the Industrial areas ....

I still refuse to this day to take my kids there !

what about the world's biggest ferris wheel?

Council-"permanent structure, needs planning permission"
Owner-"temporary structure, doesn't need planning permission"
Council-"permanent..."
Owner-"temporary..."
Council-"perm..."
Owner-"temp..."
Council-"see you in court"

48 hours later and the 'permanent structure' had been taken down...

Council-"Oh, you were right, it is temporary, you can put it back up now"

...and it was en-route to the USA.

The views from the top were stunning!

am sure the reason the family who owned frontierland(and Blackpool pleasure beach), had a similar argument about wanting to build a new ride and planing permission on the border with the promenade

then they basically said enough's enough and the stuff we've dont for this town and closed frontierland down for good..

i forget the family name i was at school with one of the sons?
