Can't remember the name of it I'm afraid, but my wife's godmother used to own the cafe which was located opposite where the doctors surgery now is by The Battery in that row of shops (I think it might now be a barbers? Can't remember for sure)

Alice, who owned the cafe, sadly passed away around 4 weeks ago.

Just reminded me has that. Does anybody recall those cars that went around a miniscule "Scalextrix" type track between The Midland and Marineland ??!!!! Literally on the edge of the beach.

Wow !! I used to love them in me youth !!!! There was still trace of them having been there up until only very recently.

I remember it well, yes ! Used to have a superb toy shop in there as I recall and a great, real Christmas tree, AT Christmas (I know that sounds daft, but the family and I have been in Card Factory today in the Arndale and they have got all their Christmas gubbins for sale. Crazy. It's August FFS)

Sure there used to be some sort of kitchen ware shop in that arcade too. Was located along from Fahys Garage, either just before or just after the old cinema (where i went to see The Empire Strikes Back on it's opening day !)

Fantastic stuff Trojan !

There is one of those Blue Seagull badges in the display cabinet at the entrance to Morecambe Library.

Just remembered something and I hope someone will back me up here !!

I definitely recall in 1994 going to see a concert on the Promenade (outside the Empire I think it was) during the summer months, and was a couple of hours set by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. I tell people I saw him do a gig on Morecambe Prom and get called a blatant liar !!!

What was the occasion for him doing that then ? Anyone recall ??!!

Am I right in thinking there was a BBC play filmed here called "Sunset Across The Bay" in the 70s?
Also remember 1985 and the big scooter rally at Easter.

can remember Faithhealer being played at the Broadway. I went to see the Sensational Alex Harvey Band at The Guildhall in Preston. I think Alex Harvey died a few years after his fame peaked.

it was Thora Hird and Albert Modley.

sad at the end as Albert Modley dies in the toilets by the Clocktower. They ahd to swop the gents and ladies round to fit in with their filming so he died in the ladies although on the film it was shown as being the gents.

What about Scotch week? That used to be nice and quiet

The next to last stage of the Milk race used to finish in Morecambe then the last stage was Morecambe to Blackpool. I think the start and finish used to be at Central Pier

Watching the video reminded me, Blue Rhapsody night club! An alternative to the posers at Harvey's (I hated that place!). Also the Bier Keller with Frank McGregor on the squeeze box (is he still going?)

So how did that work out then?
