As some of you may know, several members of my family were present at the unveiling, including my Dad, Brother and 2 Aunties (Janet Nixon who is quoted in the above news article being one of them). Some of my Grandad's (Clarrie Hollings) ashes were scattered on the centre spot at Christie Park and I'll be sure to pay a visit to it when I'm in the area in a couple of weeks.

Being sad, I had a wander round the Sainsburys Car Park this morning and got a few funny looks from the security men!... I asked where the plaque was and they stated it wasn't being "unveiled" till Wednesday One of them then showed me the "X" that marks the spot to which the replies from "those who should know" said it's not in the right place. i simply came away confused as ever

Yes, thanks Sean it takes me a few days to get to page 37 of our cracking Programme!

What you will notice on the pic. of the "unveiling" Rod has the plaque in his hand about 2' off the ground. It would appear they have taken it out of the cold and are bringing it back out for Wednesday when they open the store. They are positioned fairly close to the "X" I was talking about.

And I am looking for a job in Sainbury's sick of agency work the hours are low and prefer a job with hours ie 20+ hours a week.

Read somewhere that around 1600 people had applied for the 300 jobs there at the new store

1600 wow now this alot .

I went for a job as a Kitchen Porter I remember having a job interview and getting told 1000 people went for this for Morecambe The Globe.

And got told I needed more experience in the cooking industry at the time only had six months in this

Yes, there was an open day held early August, at Lancaster and Morecambe college, which was advertised.
Jobs were applied for online .
I called in myself to have a look around.

Call back in 2 or 3 weeks Darren, people who don't enjoy it will have left by then.

Just been to sainsburys for a noz and wasnt impressed,you feel like your walking into a industrial building,the ceiling is quite high which gives a cold feeling to it(and it was cold)

Not as wecoming as asda......
The prices overall are more expensive than asda so all in all i was quite dissapointed.....
I for one wont be going back there......

At Morecambe and Lancaster college I will never give up on a full time contract.

Intresting I thought the prices might have been a bit cheaper than Lancaster what with every supermarket you could wish for within a mile or two there is a lot of competition.

I thought every branch of a particular supermarket had the same prices?

I am surprised people shop at Sainsbury's and why doesn't everyone shop at Asda, they are always the cheapest (excluding the budget foregin supermarkets) and win cheapest supermarket every year and have a price guarantee. Not that they ever lose with me.

For me it is Asda, Tesco, Morrisons then Sainsburys.
